We have a 2021 Chevy Tahoe premier edition and it has developed a crack in the headlight. Contacted the dealer and they agreed that there is no damage to the vehicle or rock chips that could have caused the crack on the back of the headlight. GM refuses to replace it under factory 3yr/36,000 mile warranty because it “does not create a safety concern”. Any ideas how to proceed to get GM to replace an obviously defective part???

Your dealer is your best advocate...and reality is, they should handle the negotiation w/ GM and the replacement. If they believe it is defective, they will take care of garnering approval, ordering the parts, and installing them.
Seems like something a little fishy here, if the dealer and service department think it is defective...that is usually all it takes to get approval.

If they need "help," what happens when it starts leaking, taking on water vapor...then corrodes the electronics contained therein...

But, we probably need more info to make a solid judgement...is it a small crazing like crack in the reflective material, is it a full crack in the back of the assembly, etc...

Welcome to your first post but too bad it has to be something like this.

Can you post pics of the crack. It makes no sense that they say they are not covering a crack that could not have been caused by road debris. Kind of like a road hazard coverage that had no way of happening.

ya pictures would be very helpful, if it is simply a crack in the outer housing and does not affect anything then that would probably be considered cosmetic only and you may not have any relief for that other than to plastic weld it if it is something that may cause more problems later or replace it yourself.

It didn't just crack out of the blue. If you want someone else to pay for it, file a claim with your insurance company.
This is slightly presumptuous. It is possible there was some sort of manufacturing defect that was exacerbated by use, change in weather, etc....Nobody here can tell from words what caused it...
OP said the dealer agrees there is a crack w/ no evidence of impact damage.

Here is a picture of the crack. No marks chips or anything from a rock or other object. The crack seems to be getting worse. Dealer agrees that there is no damage to the light or vehicle other than the crack.

“Hello ———! This is Savannah reaching out from Chevrolet Customer Care. I wanted to let you know that I did speak with dealer and at this time, the repair is being denied. I have exhausted all my resources and at this time, the repair would be out of pocket as the crack is considered a cosmetic repair and not a functional concern.”
