Thanks man! But I am serious when I say if you want to take over I will sell you my autocad stuff. I understand if you dont want to go down that path, just throwing it out there. I have plenty of other things to occupy my time these days :)

All good man trust me im busy enough with doing the fiat stuff machining parts out. Only time I would do the parts if you were here with me locally. I just don't feel right taking others ideas like many other people do. Even if you said here you go still for me to charge people for copying someones idea and making the same part is not right. This is god dam AMERICA not china lol NOW KEEP BUSTING PARTS OUT BROTHER LOL

Haha I have plenty of parts made, but like you alluded to people just dont want to spend $$$. For everyone 10 people I have ask about them I might have 1 actually buy something, even after reducing prices. Thats why im grateful for the few on this site that have taken the plunge and have been willing to share their experience.

ive had good results with the djm 3 inch a arms and the qa1 double adjutables in front also for a long time just people dont want to spend the $$. ATOMIC thought of this design and I would never copy someone else's ideas and undercut. I've never been like that never will be like that.

Sorry guys, been crazy bust the last week. Got my camber kit friday, havent had time to install it yet though. Im over 500 miles now on this conversion and no problems at all from the new parts

Still thinking about trying out some 20's to see if they make a huge difference. But I LOVE my 4's

Been talking to andrew a little about building these HD washers to hopefully be able to go stud top and get real low... time will tell

I've been making progress with some other upgrades to my Tahoe, but I've still been working on the bushings and washers when time allows. I finally got all the raw material and new lathe tooling in. Here are a couple pics to whet your appetite...

3" diameter chunk of polyurethane:

The biggest down side to chucking the red polyurethane into a lathe and working on it is that the shavings are pink. I am not fond of this because it makes my lathe look like a "my little pony lathe". Here's the start of the work to reduce the diameter to a around 2.5":

I had to machine a square face on the business end of the 4340:

This will give me a very flat face to the material:

Starting the hole for the shock stud to go through:

And here we are, all lined up to increase the diameter. I still have to do this one more time so that it the hole will be the proper diameter hole for the shock stud to fit snugly inside:

Idk what happened, but I havent been getting these updates. Maybe it's bc I didnt check back in after the first email notification.

Im super excited to try this tud top, but I think I need to order the special coil over stud top piece, the one I have is from my rear (non CO) shocks. I think the CO version has a spring seat on it

one update I want to mention
ive put alot of miles on the rig this wknd, and one thing ive noticed, while going down the highway (50+ mph) if I hit a string of bumps in the road, almost like a wavy surface, the truck just seems to rock back and forth pretty bad. Its kinda hard to put into words, but its a bad feeling, and depending on how many of these dips are in the road, it starts to feel like its gonna rock itself completely over. Under all other conditions the ride is much better, but this gets to be a little unnerving... makes me think a slightly higher spring rate is needed up front

That sounds more like a shock setting...also the resonant frequency of the springs comes into play at some point, but there just isnt a lot of room to work with to try different rate springs with dofferent preload.

I am glad you made this thread, because I really do not know all your mods done to your ride, but I have full suspension and can take a turn at 60 if a i want with no movement. Not depending upon shock setting i can not do that as much, but I have never experienced a rocking sensation. Bumping around yes, rocking no.

Higher spring rate from what i have seen is only to the 1300 which is only 100lb difference, but maybe you understand why i wanted to switch now. lol


and yeah dont forget me & atomic, especially him as hes the reason we are figuring this out. lol

Tahoewhat, ive been thinking about it a little tonight and I think my rocking may be coming from the rear... ever since I dropped it I have had a side to side sway in the rear, almost like the truck was shaking its ass as I hit dips going down the road. I just assumed it was the shocks back there and when I got new qa1's that it went away. I really noticed it this wknd, bc I put about 150 miles on it, and my wife made a comment about it too. I was going to revamp the rear suspension as well, but tony is waiting on his new springs so I just sat back for a bit. Now im thinking I need to go ahead and get the full adjustable arms and new springs back there too

If i was to do it again, I would buy the 1300 springs and either wait for someone to come up with a bushing (which i dont see how ridetechs, coil overs stud mount has held up just fine) or buy the pro comp adapter and just swap out when a bushing is made suitable.

Still learning about suspension everyday, but sounds like it may be the rear end not centered after you lowered it. I.E. get a panhard bar adjustable one. (that was my first mod in the rear after springs) But i have never had a rocking sensation only when I first bought it stock and that was 4x4 height. lol. Could be sway bar also, links loose or something.

I dont see it being the springs, keep the springs you have, (why are you changing anyway?) And the lca's & uca's i think only help with distance of the rear end, meaning moving it back or forward, (which i needed to do after relocators)

My opion would be try a adj. panhard Or measure and see if your rear is off center? and check all bolt tightness.

The guy on PT has about 300 miles on the poly bushing he made and they appear to be doing fine, fwiw.

This is really great news! I think it should work out fine, just had to find the right combo of materials

Do you have the rear LCA relocate brackets and the sway bar ends links to position sway bar right. All bolts tight front and rear? How are your shock towers holding up? Have you got an alignment yet could have something to do with a high speed sway???

I was afraid that you'd lost interest once you got the conversion done since we hadn't seen any updates from you. I'm glad your back with us. :)

Looking at my drawings I think a 1.5" one is about the biggest you can fit without touching anything. Thats measuring from the center of the hole. If you trim around where the welds are you can fit a much bigger one. The center of the hole is roughly 1" from the edge of the top mount, so 2" diameter would be the biggest possible I think since my mount sits inside the factory hoop.

So the answer I think you are looking for is somewhere between 1.25" and 2" diameter.

Sign me up for some parts as well to test out! Great job!

Thanks Atomic. I'll order some 2" diameter 4340 & polyurethane material that is in the proper diameter for use with the upper mounts. Based on what you posted earlier it seems that a 2" outside diameter for the washers is the largest that can be used with your upper mounts. I'll begin on them once I get the first set of 2.5" diameter done.

Let me work out the details with the prototype first and then we'll talk. :) I just ordered my lower mounts from Atomic so I may be the first guinea pig on them this week (or coming weekend).
