CarPlay limits available music when in motion??

I can see all of my music until I put it into gear and then it instantly changes and only shows a much smaller number (looks like recently played or purchased).

GM is telling me it SHOULDNT do this (haven't brought to dealer yet though).

Anyone else have a similar experience? Thanks

Did you get the last CUE update and which iOS is on your iPhone?

Normally CarPlay lets you scroll then asked you what you're looking for. It's more of a hands off system. If you wanted to listen to Jay Z you can say "hey Siri play songs by JayZ" and it will combine Apple Music and the music stored on your iPhone.

To check your HMI firmware version press power, home, and menu at the same time. I have a 2015 and did the 2016 carplay upgrade from MVI. The hmi version on mine is 15.2BVOO8_R1_MY17

I plug in my wife's Iphone 6+ and you are right... in drive music show only one screen of music and a "more" icon at the bottom. When I press "more" Siri comes on. This also happens on contacts. In park it shows all the music and contact list. That blows!!
I plug the iphone to the usb port behind the screen. Carplay doesn't activate. I hit the "media" button and selected Iphone and all the music show up. I think I like the bluetooth phone and media "iphone" better than carplay. Also IMO the map kinda sucks I rather use GM navigation.

I don't think this is a GM problem. This would be Apple thing. About a month ago when I first got the new HMI -- when I press on Contacts (carplay) in drive it would display "Contact access is limited". Now it shows one page worth of contacts and "more" at the bottom. There must have been an update on carplay from apple since then.

I did ask MVI since I got the video in motion upgrade (HMI software) They said Android car and Apple carplay gets its data straight from the bus and not through the HMI.

Exactly. What's weird is that GM says this SHOULDNT happen...but clearly it's not a one off issue...

Just realized it does this with Pandora too. Doesn't scroll past the 'A''s on my list. Completely useless.

Never said it was difficult. Just annoying.

But...

I should be able to scroll through all of my artists and albums...not just when I'm sitting in a parking lot. Not to mention I have multiple albums from the same artists and usually have no recollection of what their albums are called. Saying "play artist X" will being playing all of their songs.

Siri causes issues if it's on. If youre listening to an audio source other than your phone and you pick up your phone and check mail etc it will sometimes randomly start playing music from your phone.

There are a lot of things I could do as workarounds for the bugs currently built into the system. But ultimately my preference would be for the system to just work.

(Not to mention I pretty much stopped memorizing album names after Darkside of the moon )

I was having the same issue, if you use the tuning button it will scroll through all of you music and contacts.

In carplay and while in motion. I haven't had any issues scrolling with the tuning knob. I was having problems using the steering wheel but found out that the steering wheel controls don't work when plugged in.

Wow. That's nuts! Mine does NOTHING when you turn the tuning knob. What model do you have? I have a 2016 Yukon Denali

Do you mind shooting a quick vid so I can show the dealer?

Anyone else able to scroll through artists in Apple CarPlay via their tuning knob?

Oh so yours isnt stock....Ok...It would still be interesting to see it work and does it give you access to all artists or just a sub set when you're in drive? Thanks
