Has anyone used the idatalink Maestro RR? I read it is supposed to retain onstar and chimes via car speakers but it says it needs a external speaker they sell. Can anyone shed some light?

It can make chimes in the left front speaker, but you loose audio when that happens. That's not a big deal since chimes are important and infrequent. However, turn signal clicks are done the same way and they happen all time and it isn't super to have reduced audio in left front channel the entire time you are waiting to turn left at a light.
Couple options -
1. You can program turn signal clicking to OFF and just get a nice warning chime if you drive for 3/4 of a mile with your blinker on. the cluster even tells you that the blinker is on. Then Maestro is OK without the speaker.
2. get the speaker. Then all clicks and chimes go there and left speaker is never interrupted.
