Ok My 2019 Tahoe with 129k on it just bought it three months ago. Appears service was done but fluids in transmission was tan and in poor condition transfer case was same report Threw codes Codes P0700 & P0769 and a whine from the transmission internal failure present. being told reman is what needs to happen. Question is can it or should I even try to fix those issues or is a reman the better choice. I am not a mechanic at all. So, seeking advice please

If you plan on keeping it for several years, just put a GM trans in at the dealership. 3 yr, / 100k nationwide warranty. No brainer in my book.

I don't have this code in my generation but pretty sure it's related to the TECHM and those can be rebuilt on your kitchen table.

There are detailed posts on parts and how to articles with photos on here.

@NickTransmissions What do you think Nick? If it was the solenoid for the clutch I'd say he's due for overhaul because of all the debris.

P0769 means "Shift Solenoid 'D' Intermittent".

so "red" is the color for transmission fluid.

Tan would suggest possible water got it the transmission. got a picture?

I've plenty of motor oil turn to chocolate milk when head gasket of cylinder cracks.

I wonder if his radiator had an internal failure and mixed trans fluid with coolant… unless that truck was under water like a river or boat launch or something….to explain the tan color ….regardless.. not to spend you money but id go with rebuilt from a shop you trust….

If you put a GM re-manufactured transmission in it, will it still have the same weak points as it had from the factory? Most good transmission shops correct the weak points.
