if you do cam, id recommend a torque converter... you dont have to go too high but it will give the cam a nice boost in power since it will increase the power band to a higher lift cam's range.

(2200-2600) should be nice

You gotta do those LS6 springs and change the valve seals at the same time. I would double check the spring pressures required for that cam. It is fairly low ...

You can use the stock type seals if you fully seat them. I swapped in the Comp cam in I measured and was good for .530 lift with the 918 springs, 787 retainers and stock type seals.

Comp 500-8 206/212 .480/.488 lift (.486/.494 with 1.52 rockers) 112 LSA

Total was roughly $750 but I bought roller tip rockers, ARP rocker nuts, chromoly pushrods, new valve seals, oil pan gasket since I screwed mine up removing the cover :emotions122: new distributor gear and fluids at the same time.

I also bought a few tools... adjustable pushrod length checker, an air line fitting that screws into the spark plug hole for changing out the valve springs and valve spring compressor. Some of this stuff isn't necessary but it always wind up costing more than you originally plan so keep that in mind.

The cam is small but my truck weighs right at 6500 lbs with a full load of fuel- add passengers and I'm at 7000 lbs so I need all the torque I can get. If it wasn't such a pig I wouldve went with something in the 212-215 on the duration. That 304-8 cam you have looks like a pretty good choice though IMO.
