Brake Upgrade

Hey guys looking for some info on upgrading my brakes. I have started to notice that the stock brakes and rotors are taking longer to grab to stop the 24s. I put new ceramic pads and Acdelco rotors on about 6 months ago. I really don't have the funds nor do I want to spend the cash on a big brake kit. I have someone local who is selling some 14" slotted rotors. So my question is will just putting bigger rotors on with the stock caliper make any kind of improvement?

Idk the company but they make a kit that allows you to use a 1 or 2 inch larger rotors. While using factory calipers. I'm sure someone has more info on how much better your braking power will be

Larger rotors alone will be a great improvement. This will move the caliper out farther from the center of the wheel, increasing leverage, making it easier for the calipers to stop the rotating force of the wheels. Keep in mind you'll need relocation brackets for the calipers if you upgrade the rotor size.

Doin the GMT900 brake upgrade is pretty good. I upgraded to them and its great with my 24s.

Yeah I saw your mod to the brake system. I was thinking about that too, but my local junk yard rarely has anything that new. Every time I check the newest GM on the lot is a 00 A lot of good that does!

And Red Im running R1 concepts cross drilled and slotted rotors with autozone ceramic pads and this heavy ***** stops well for having a 600lbs system, my fat ass, tool box, and other misc items. Get GMT900 front rotors, pads, and calipers. Then Russell stainless steel brake lines (5 line kit) plus convert to hydroboost. You wont imagine how much difference all that together does for these vehicles. It stops my yukon better then accord.

about $120 for calipers and $100 for lines plus $200 for booster then your choice of rotors n pads. Its worth investment as my 20s with 33s stop hard

I did all this with the r1 concepts premium and no calipers and no hydro boost. It cost me $600 going through clkelley on the forum. Thats after our forum discount

ive got r1 concept pads and rotors up front made a decent little difference. im going to use them when its time to do rears.

If you have heavy wheels and tires 20" or larger always go for the larger rotors. I went with drilled & slotted Baer plus 1, 2 piece 14" front rotors with relocation brackets. Mounted them retaining the stock front calipers and factory pads. I didn't change the pads so it took a few hundred miles to re-bed the brake pads to the new rotors but what a difference it made in its initial bite. High speed braking and panic stops is also improved, more stable and consistent. I had plan ordering the Baer plus 1 rears but don't think its needed since most of the braking is in the front. Leverage is a wonderful thing!
