another question... if i remove the rear o2 sensors, will it negatively affect the way the truck runs?

it can a litter bit but not really noticeable on the butt dyno. the rear sensors monitor the converters for proper operation and make minor adjustments to the fuel trims to ensure so. they should be left in there place.

When I get the exhaust done on mime I am going Jethot headers, Hi flo cats, 2" Mandrel bent X pipe to Super 40 series Flowmaster mufflers and 2" out the back on either side of the hitch. Had the X pipe on my 72 LeMans after I put the 400 bored 40over. I liked the way it had a even flow out the tail. Not overpowering one side or another.

Check out mine. I have duals all the way back until the muffler then single out the rear. No cats and pacesetter shorty headers.

i like the clean look of a single exit tip, I think the dual pipes out the back is a mud truck look. And it sounds so good to me that I am afraid I wont like it as much if I do duals. I am putting a cam and cutouts in it soon so it wont matter what all is back there haha...

My buddy has a 98 1500 extended cab 6' bed w/ the tips right where you have them and it sounds just about the same. Less throaty cause he's got high flow cats with ****** headers.

magnaflow has a complete cat assembly that bolts to manifolds. is mandrel bent 2.5 front to back. and the factory is 2.5 from mani to muffler then single 3" out

Resurrection! I’d like to point out that I just received the Magnaflow 23453 and it is only two inch. I assumed this was the one referenced here. Is there another that is 2.5?

2.5 would be overkill for a SBC in a truck. Might even slow it down.

I agree if it were the stock engine 255 hp engine, but I am going towards a a 325-350 hp zone.

Either way, this thread has come up in my searches a lot , and I just wanted to clarify that that kit is 2 inches.

I just ordered the y pipe kit from Jegs as I’m in the same boat. Except I just had a new 3 chamber Magnaflow installed. My current cats are garage and I think I have a blockage as the new crate engine only has 38K on it but its lacking power, especially when towing on the highway.
