Arlington plant closed temporarily - Open Now

Well today was supposed to be start of production for the 2025 models but GM says because of the hurricanes they have a supplier shortage and closed the plant. They also closed the Flint plant for the heavy duty trucks.

Call me a cynic, but I would think they had the parts already in hand to start building the refresh. Make of it what you will.

They were still making the 24’s as of a week ago. Still pulling orders my buddy told me.

There's a thing called JIT supply- it stands for 'Just In Time'. It, basically, means that companies use OTR trucks as warehouses.

It's not fun being the truck driver if you're hauling one of those loads. The carrier [trucking company] can get way up your butt, and stay there, 'til you've delivered your load. I hauled a few GM loads, back when.

factual? this isn't fake news the plant is offline currently
I suppose there was no Hurricane either?
I am just surprised that all the people leaving for the current one are able to get gas.
I would not want to be stuck in that traffic ugh......

I was at the GMC dealer last Friday and they just received 5 or 6 ‘24s. I’m guessing they were cringing. A little delay will help the dealers

Yeah that doesn't happen. This isn't a new process. It was pioneered by toyota. This is for production. Lean process. Keeps things cheap and efficient and allows you to react accordingly when it comes to making more/less of something

Moat definitely have the parts in hand. A slight of hand move to delay production because lots are full of 2024 models they can't sell for their absurd prices.....

I've been to FL a lot over the years, and I can tell you there ISN'T a ton of manufacturers there supplying the big 3. It's mostly service businesses, commercial, recreation, and utilities from what I'm aware of.

Your main mfg hubs are east coast and midwest. Who knows, maybe some little inconspicuous part that weighs an ounce is made there and Effed up the whole program.....

Production of the 25 model year was only delayed couple days, it officially started October 9th.

Lets pray for no weather delays or labor issues.

I'm just glad the factory is back up so the people can get back to work and get a normal paycheck.
I have no idea if they get paid at all or what percentage of a normal paycheck they make when the factory is down, but I would not be too happy to get no paycheck because GM has almost zero flexibility when it comes to getting parts from suppliers.

Hi. First time posting-
I have a question that I'm curious to ask the audience here regarding price/cost.
I'm out in California (yeah I agree, I'd love to be anywhere else, but we got grandkids and I can't leave - won't let me! LOL)

So my question is, I picked up my 24 Denali Ultimate for 91,700+ taxes - I think I did okay, but I don't really have an idea of just how good a deal I got compared to folks elsewhere around the country. Would a few of you mind chiming in and letting me know what you think of that price?

Not really related to the 2025’s or the plant shutdown, but…based on what I’m experiencing (I’m actively shopping for a 2024 XL Ultimate), you got the best deal I’ve seen. Congrats and enjoy
