Apple Carplay - Apple Maps does display on Digital Cluster / HUD - Pics

Posting this because it took me a day or two to figure out, and thought I would save others some time.

Using Apple Carplay and navigating with Apple Maps DOES show directions on the Digital Cluster and HUD, just like it will if you use the built in Google Maps (requires subscription).

Navigating with Waze or Google maps using Apple Car play will not, it will only display it on the main Infotainment screen.

It’s a little weird on my Denali - it definitely works, but not all the time. Sometimes when I switch to navigation in Apple Maps through CarPlay, the HUD is blank where it should be displaying directions… But most of the time it works.

Although I do prefer Google Maps anyway, so it’s kind of moot for me…

Man... I just got so excited thinking you were referring to the virtual cockpit like on the Audi. Map showing on the digital cluster lol damn my brain for reading too quickly.

I have exactly the same problem in my 2023 and apply carplay, however with Android it works like it should. Have you been able to fix this issue?

FYI: With iOS 26 now apple has extended google maps into the HUD just as Apple Maps did. I love Google because you get satellite view where Apple only shows that option in specific manufacturers and GM i don't believe is one of them.

G maps in my HUD since 11/14/25 delivery of 2025 Z71 but never AAPL maps.

Have had IOS26 since it’s release so now AAPL maps are displayed in the HUD?

I have had the opposite with my 23’. Apple Maps always displayed in the DIC and HUD but never Google Maps until iOS 26.
