Has anyone added an amp and subs with the factory deck? I'd like to install some that are being given to me, but don't want to loose a channel by using a signal converter. Unfortunately this may be my only choice... :emotions122:

You don't need to lose a channel, You can wire new subs and speakers to work the help of a PAC OS4 or PAC OS3 adapter. There are more adapters available online to help too.
For all I know, you could even splice on of the front/rear spaker location wires and lean it to the amplifier as a signal wire (has to have speaker level input) ad then take the outputs back to the spliced location, and the leftover front or rear speakers locations, then take the sub output to your subs.
Then you MAY not need the adapter but, that install is a bit more involved.
Knowing what your being given will help a bit?

It's some kinda Alpine amp and two 8 inch bazooka's... Not my personal preference, but when it's free and fulfills the void why not!

If its the new 5 channel Alpine amps like the PDX5 then thats a tight hookup, but then you will need an dapter like mentioned because it has pre-amp ins.
But then again I don't think you care much as the equipment isn't expensive but free, then again you could always get this HU (I may get it when I can save up)http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17374_Pioneer+AVH-P4100DVD.html, then you would avoid the adapter :)

The amp is only for the bazooka's. I'll be keeping everything else stock for the time being.

Oh, well then it shouldn't be hard at all to get a sub signal.
You won't eve need an aapter or any of that stuff, most just pull the signal from one of the cars speakers so you may ahve to love a channel.
I say you try and pull it from one you dont mind much like the small D pillar speakers.

Gambler had one on the old website, but can't get that anymore because of all the BS that happened over there.

I had a 12 and amp wired to factory deck. Sounded decent. The amp I had was a pioneer and had speaker-level inputs, so I taped into wires below the center console and called it a day. If the amp doesn't have the speaker level inputs, you will need a line out adapter, but you should be able to tap into this same location. Since you are pretty much just piggy backing the signal, you don't lose anything.

I wonder if my Yukon has this wiring... I don't have the console though. It would be nice to keep all speakers and add the subs/amp...

NP.... I was pissed when I found that link myself. Everything I had read before said you had to tap into the wires down close by the amp, which is a PITA to get to. The wires you tap here are easily accessible.

Hello, new here, love the info.
Just got my 09 Z71, it's my fourth tahoe. My 07 had Bose premium option, this one does not. Back in the day I always went aftermarket because I love my music. Now, however, a little kick is all I need. The stock w/o Bose does NOT provide that kick (duh).
Looking to add a sub, possibly the JL stealth or similar custom-built hide-away in the console area. I saw the thread above 'adding base to 2007+ w/bose'. Is there any similar thread that discusses this exact project with a non-Bose system?
I'm trying to determine where the easiest place is to tap in to the speaker leads for the LOC.
