Get in line.I would like to see the numbers of failures on AFM vs DFM.
Unfortunately such statistics are either not easy to find, or deliberately not collected / obscured / redacted.
Regardless, they share a weakness & a common failure point: the two mode lifters.
By the way, two mode lifters still tend to fail even when the driver does the right thing and disables cylinder deactivation,
whether by avoiding final gear with the shifter, plugging in disabler, or a proper tune (with its many other benefits).
Always helps to disable cylinder deactivation, duhr - sooner, the better; might rescue the cam if you disable the feature instead of asking if you should.
After 21 years of schidty two mode lifters failing far more often than their elder single mode counterparts, maybe don't wait for the stats.
