Been awhile since I posted anything, got rid of my '99 Yukon, and picked up a '98 Burban 4x4 with 128K on it. The person i got it from put a new tranny in it, new front and rear brakes, new tie rod ends, steering box, plugs/wires/cap and rotor. Tonight after replacing the drivers side front caliper I noticed a "noise" coming from the underside. It does not sound like a banging, or a tapping, but more like a flapping noise. I cant feel anything hitting the oil pan, but that is where it is coming from. Anyone got any ideas? I planned on doing a motor swap come march/april, just need to know if I should start putting money aside quicker than I wanted to?

Thanks for any and all help!

I had a similar issue, drove it a year but was ready at any point to tow it in for a new heart. Mine was a 97 with only 100K on it. You are on borrowed time is my guess

I am planning on installing a new engine around March of 2013 anyway. I did take it to a mechanic, and after advising him of what had been done prior to me getting it (rebuilt tranny, tie rod ends, front brakes/calipers, master cylinder), he is thinking that its possibly a bearing on the shaft of the trans that is bad. I am not burning/using any oil, no smoking from exhaust, oil pressure is good, water temp is good, and no loss of power from engine. Going to have the trans dropped and check that it was put back properly, and no parts have gone bad (rebuilt less than 600 miles ago).

Thanks for the input.
