Bought a donor for my 1973 Camaro. It's a 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS 6 speed manual with 80K miles, heated black leather seats, center console with gauges. Runs great.

Hit something on the right. Speed limit was 60mph where accident happened so I'm guessing they hit something on the road???

Some parts arrived yesterday. 30 spline axles, 3 Gen IROC quick ratio 2.5T steering box, all steering bits and tubular control arms.

he 2011 Camaro donor arrived. Started right up and drove it off the trailer. Only issues I see are a bent lower control arm & a broken rim. Runs & sound great. Added bonus the hood is carbon fiber and cost $1,500 new.

New bearings, seals, 30 spline posi, 3.73 gears (8.6") & 1350 yoke are installed on the 73 Camaro's 10 bolt.

Nice to fine a solid body and floors to start with, looking good so far. Might check in with the 2nd gen guys at www.nastyz28.com for some help if needed. Couple guys there really know their stuff.

Well, looks like I'm in the hunt for another donor car. Replaced the front struts, passenger lower control arm & installed an AC belt on the 2011 Camaro. Now AC blows cold, drive great and straight. All gears were very smooth and clutch feels good. Brake pads are at 90%.

Just too nice to take apart so going to keep the 2011 to play with. Cost me $190 in parts to get drivable. Now to replace & paint the front bumper.

I haven't opened the FedEx envelope yet. I was planning to part it out so didn't even think about it. Will have to see what is required to get it new title & tags.

It would be a lot of work but it would be sickkkk if you cut the inside of the doors off so you could weld em on the Camaros doors and do a 2011 interior swap! There’s a guy in Florida that has done a lot of these swaps with the new corvette interiors. He did a couple cars for some celebrities

I thought it looked too good to rebuild, but assumed they found unibody damage or something critical. Have you looked for anything like that underneath?

I did a full inspection underneath and found some dirt along passenger side but no metal damage. Did find the driver's side swaybar link bent that they didn't mark as damaged but marked the passenger's upper control because they look bent from the factory but was fine.

With just my eyeball alignment after replacing both front struts the car drives great and doesn't pull or wander even with hands off the wheel for a 1/4 mile.

Here's my bent parts collection. Cost $186 for new front struts, swaybar links & a lower control arm. The car had lower springs which I removed & will be selling. They are $350 new. I have new rear struts ($103) arriving Wednesday so will be selling those springs with or without the struts.

My plan is to use the heat/ac, gauge cluster and HUD if possible so using the Gen 5 dash is a real possibility or at least parts of it. I have to get everthing apart to see what needs to be modified. That's the plus of having a good donor. If the 2011 was a coupe it will still be a donor. My wife has been wanting a Camaro SS manual convertible for many years. I will likely pay alot more for my next donor.
