If I'm not mistaken...the L33 block is aluminum? I could could be pulling that outa my ass though :shrug:

Edit: Yes it is:

L33

The L33 was an aluminum block version of the LM7, and was referred to as the Vortec 5300 ** in marketing materials. Power increased by 15 hp (11 kW), to 310 hp (230 kW), over the LM7, and torque was unchanged. It was only available on extended cab 4WD pickup trucks.

L33 applications:

* 2005-2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD
* 2005-2007 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD

:pepper:

Here's some good info on motors:

Yes, the L33 is the aluminum version of the LM7, and the LS1 is basically an aluminum LM7 with a larger bore.

Just wondering what the difference is between the 5.3 in my 02 Tahoe and the LS1 in my brother in laws Trans AM. Just trying to learn more about these engines. Is there a good resource online where I can study up on these motors??

I have this one and it is very informative. You should be able to get it at Barnes & Noble or any other good book store. It discusses all of the LS motors in depth from stock build to performance parts and dyno tuning.

LS1's are aluminum blocks and have specific heads and cams on them to give them the higher horsepower ratings. The LS1 in my '04 GTO has the LS6 aluminum block, LS6 intake, but LS1 heads and cam to give it 350HP and 365 TQ. A true LS6 has the LS6 heads and cam from the 02-04 C5 Z06 Corvette, which were rated at 405Hp. It goes on and on........

do the LS1 heads fit on the LM7? and for that matter, can you swap over the top end parts... i.e. cam, intake, etc

Iron vs Aluminum.... Heads flow simmilar numbers but 5.3 heads have a smaller chamber CC... Same cam... different intakes... different exhaust manifolds.... different acc. pully offsets... want me to keep goin lol. In general you can interchange all of the valvetrain/heads/most rotating assembly components.
