Guys i cut off the resonator on my escalade and left it turned down and replaced the main muffler with a magnaflow 12909. The stock exhaust is 3.5 inches from cat back so by far best way to spend your money.

NOTE--- you will need to get about 2 inches of straight 3.5 inch pipe. You can cut the portion before or after the resonator and weld that on the pipe coming into the muffler so everything will fit in.

And here goes the stock muffler you can't even see light thru it from other side

Now on these mufflers takes about 1 month to break in fully. So far the truck has got louder and no real noise inside. Sounds great!!!

Also I did notice a gain on hp when we stomped on the gas. My main concern also is that all the aftermarket cat back exhausts for these trucks are 3 inches and like 600-1000 dollars and stepping from 3.5 to 3 inch is not the best at all.

Save your money and make more power by doing this set up.

Did the exact same thing on my EXT and I'm loving it. Can't really understand why anyone would spend $500++ on a cat back when it's pretty much the same thing. Even the magnaflow cat back is big $$ and it is exactly this setup but comes with a tip.

Tony i bought the 12909 muffler because it had the 3.5 in and out but i see the factory muffler is offset on both ends where the magnaflow has a center as well as an offset outlet, so this is not a exact swap. I would need to change the whole piping underneath? Oh i have the 10 denali by the way.

Its a bolt in deal pretty much. You will need about 2 inches of the 3.5 pipe which you can get from when you cut the resonator off and you put the muffler at a angle like we did. i have a 2011 escalade and works fine.

Cut the oem muffler as close as you can to the entry/exit holes

cut the pipe before resonator and ditch resonator.

Trust me wont be loud

I ordered the same muffler, but quickly cancelled after I noticed the same issue with the offset. I wish this was posted a few months ago :). I would have gone this route instead of the MBRP catback.

yeah guys dont waste your time. Its one step louder and for us is perfect. Im doing long tube headers for better performance/gas mileage im sure it will sound even better after that.

You have any sound clips? I'd like to do something to get a little more noise out of mine. Hate to have to drop $300 on an intake too though.

Got the muffler through ebay w/free shipping - 125.00

Copy of receipt below incase anyone wants to reach out to the same seller. He has a "make an offer" option, so I pushed through 125.00 and he excepted.

The factory mufflers on the 6.2's are actually not very restrictive at all (compared to most oem mufflers out there). They are pretty well designed actually.

However, nice job on finding a muffler that works for you! Looks like a fairly easy and inexpensive mod.
