22 Yukon Exhaust Leak

Wow sorry guys, I made this post back in December and then never checked it. So I finally took our Yukon 6.2L in for the 3rd row seatbelt recall and this exhaust leak. As you can guess they said this joint is a “low spot in the system” and designed to leak water there. I’m going to attempt the service bulletin myself now that I know it exists. I can’t stand dealers. I turned down an included extended powertrain warranty because it meant having them do my oil changes, and I don’t trust them to do that

Nothing new. The dealer pretty much washed their hands and said to work with GMC.

Got a case opened with GMC and waiting on an update.

I had same issue and dealer fixed the problem and no more soot on garage floor.

Put a new clamp on closed the gap and applied weld sealer.

I had similar experiences with the local GMC dealer's service department as well. Left my door panel, steering wheel and center console lid filthy after a routine maintenance. Discovered that Cadillac can do warranty work on GMC but not vice versa. I've been using the Caddy dealer for about 4 years and it's worth the added labor rates. Night and day difference in experience. I was spoiled by Lexus for years, sadly they don't make anything the size of the XL.

Any GM dealer can do your warranty work.

From what I understand Buick GMC & Chevy dealers cannot do Cadillac warranty work but Cadillac can take care of all GM brands.

Interesting... maybe the locals are feeding me a line of bs just to get the work. Either way, they do a good job and I'm happy.

Any updates on this issue? Has anyone had success contacting GM? Since Day 1 of bringing my 2023 Yukon XL home from the dealer (new), water mixed with black soot will leak out right after initial start of the day...no matter what time that is. It starts about 15" after start and only lasts about 10 seconds or so. The puddle it leaves is mostly water, but always has some black sooty material floating in the small puddle. I dropped it off at the dealer, and after the standard "we can't duplicate it", I showed them video and pics I took. They said it's normal to which I replied "why haven't any of the 3 Sierras, 2 Tahoes, Suburban, or other Yukon I've owned do this?" <Shrug> I've used them for all of the service on my other GM vehicles and they are normally do good work. Not going to accept "it's normal" on a nearly $100K vehicle. Thanks!

For starters, I don't feel like a vehicle should spew sooty water on my garage floor every time I start. Secondly, I'm getting tired of cleaning up said sooty smudges off my garage floor every few days. Is that OK? Give that I've owned over 10 GM vehicles over the years and a total of zero others have done this, I'd also say it's a flaw - either in design or with my particular vehicle. Thanks for asking.
