Good suggestions in the thread. Many have had the same experience as you. Sometimes fixable, sometimes not.

The inconsistent amount of air loss I would guess that maybe you just parked the vehicle in just he right spot on the diameter of the leaking rim and caused it to leak faster overnight?

Might want to consider finding a set of used OEM take-offs or OEM replicas that are not chrome. Try searching on Craigslist, eBay, Facebook market place.

Mine were leaking around the valve stem. Temp fix was to use a grinder, a wire wheel, and eventually a dremel to get rid of the pitted chrome and slather on the tire bead sealer in the valve stem hole. Held for a while.

In the end the permanent fix was to have the chrome stripped off and have them powder coated. So yeah, chrome sucks.

We used to use tubes as a last resort type repair and they worked fine. Problem nowadays is the tpms sensor bolts to the rim and tubes have their own stem.

That's a good point, one I hadn't considered. Sacrificing the sensors for airtight tires is a deal I could live with, though, if it came down to it.

Would the other three sensors work, if only one tire was tubed?

I have a 2007 Escalade with the OEM 22" chrome wheels. The front left tire keeps leaking down. So far, two different shops have failed to fix it.

The second shop blamed the factory wheels, and put a sealant on the bead. He said it might not work, and it hasn't.

So, any ideas for a solution?

I have a 2019 GMC Yukon Denali with factory rims on it and 90,000 miles. 3 out of the 4 have cracks in them and it was kind of hard to notice it. First couldn’t figure out why the tires were slowly leaking air one minute, but not leaking any air the next day. It just all depends on whether you’re sitting on the crack or not. To order the same rims from the dealership they were $1000 apiece so needless to say I put different rims on the car.

Your stated cause of the inconsistent leak has occurred to me too, but who knows? Ditto on the replacement wheel idea.

I guess I'm gonna have to give up on getting more actual experience, with tubes, in this thread; but it was worth a try.

We have a tire shop here that specializes in OEM wheels. I think I'll see them about repair/replacement/tubing.

And yes, those wheels.

LOL, valve stems are so basic, you just have to assume they get checked. But you really don't know.

It is called chrome peel leak. I had the 22” chrome weeks on a 2014 Yukon XL Denali with that problem. Took it to a shop in Carrollton Texas and never had another problem. They have to clean all the chrome off from under the tire bead.

My Indi shop has done it to two of the 4 22” rims. Just one left. Dealing with 3 leakers was nutz.

All my TPMS are working now and having just that one slow leak is no biggie because I can fill it when fueling up.

Are they all pretty recent? Has he estimated how long he expects them to last?

Are you gonna do a preemptive repair on the fourth one?

About 3 Mo ago. My trucks in the shop right now so I should probably have em do it. It’s feast of famine for being busy there. I try to limit the “Oh, one more thing repairs” called in later.

It’s a permanent repair until the tire comes off. When my TPMS began to fail I forgot to have them add bead sealant after installing the new modules.

It wasn’t until a few months ago I remembered to have them break the beads and apply the sealant again.

Oh. I thought you were going full boat on the repair, like in the YT video you linked.

I already tried the sealant, and got about 2 weeks out of it.

I've never had tubes installed in a vehicle with tpms do that was a very good point.
I guess the real issue is the shop didn't spend enough time actually cleaning the bead area or it was around the valve. And hopefully not a crack!!

I had it repaired today, I hope. $75 for what I think they call a 'buff and seal'. Clean the beads, seal them, and re-balance.

He says he thinks this one'll be ok.
