Found the part it looks like for the interior cam but couldn’t find the console cover.

GM Part # 85699599

Really hoping we can retrofit this into the 2025.

While the screens/concept all look good, this very much screams 'subscription' to me and not something that I plan on paying for, which means I might end up installing my own.
If you installed your own in the overhead console how would you access the GM cameras? They are a proprietary video format with encryption are they not?

I don't follow what you are asking.

If I installed my own, I wouldn't be using GM's camera. My post meant that if GM offered the cameras but only over a subscription, then I have no use for GM's camera. I don't want to pay to view the camera footage for a vehicle that I own.

Ah...ok I thought you meant you had found a non OEM interior camera and were going to install it and access it remotely. I got excited that you may have found a work around to skip the subscription part while getting access to interior/exterior video. I will calm down now and bow to the Onstar subscription that I will be forced to pay for . :)

I’m thinking maybe the OnStar subscription will only be necessary for the storage and not general usage but I could be wrong.

It is just another money grab, unfortunately. All the needed to do with the cameras is thrown in a 512gb or 1tb sd card where local footage is saved and the owner could view/save, as needed. Offer the onstar subscription for those that want more storage/history and now you make everyone happy.

That's exactly what they did for the Escalade.

My friends 24 Escalade has the SD card slot in the drivers side rear access panel beside the fuse block. I checked my 25 Tahoe HC and the SD card slot "HOLDER" is there but no SD card slot.

Our '26 sticker shows "Interior Camera (Requires Future Software Update), so they still haven't resolved how to fix that feature. The dealer can't tell us anything about that OR the HD Surround Visions "Recording Capability."

This is just verification that at least the software is definitely installed so it’s promising to know we’re one step closer to getting some resolution on this matter.
I just went through all my App in that "See All Apps" and I don't have it so lets hope its just an update required.

That really pisses me off because GM put out marketing material in 2024 showing the 2025 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade would have that feature.

2026 Surround View Camera

Check out the above Youtube short showing the video recording feature on the 2026

Now that it’s actually available in the flesh so to speak, we can get this installed since most of the hardware that we need to complete our vehicles will be stocked going forward and software updates should be available also. Fingers crossed.

Unless GM does what they did with feature shortages coming out of Covid - promise they'll be installed in the future and eventually just issued a $50 part credit when GM probably decided that installing the parts on already-sold vehicles was not worth the cost in time/labor since they had already collected the profit from selling the vehicle in the first place.

The strategy, intentional or not, was a masterclass in duping buyers, with GM likely assuming that buyers eventually would get used to the absence of the feature and hopefully forgive GM their sin before they need to buy a new vehicle.

A few updates for folks. Sharing some shots from a 2026 Yukon with the Recordings feature.

A few notes:
- You need to plug in a USB 3.0 in the front center area. Downside is this reduces the chargers to a single USB C for the entire front row (no chargers in center console anymore)
- It records all exterior cameras while you’re driving, and says it will activate if your vehicle is parked/off and alarm is triggered or vehicle hit.
- No recording or mention of the interior camera. There is also no other feature or setting that references the interior camera.

So this is possibly a good thing for us ‘25 model year owners so maybe all we’ll need is a software push to get the app to work in our cars minus the interior camera that we don’t have installed.

So I am presuming you own a 2026 Yukon and thats why your seeing this feature but its still not pushed out to the 25MY Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade vehicles?

Can you access the recordings or live view cameras from you MyGMC App on a Smartphone?

The interior camera is not expensive its on the GM Parts website for under $150usd so I guess we need someone to figure out if the wiring harness is the same and we all have the interior camera harness connection thats sitting unused in our headliner overhead console. If thats the case its a simple install.

We have the Surround Vision Recorder app already installed just like we have the Ambient Lighting app but we just need to have it activated. GM Connected Camera Service is in the permissions info section of the app.

For those that have gotten this feature working in a tahoe

1) did you use USB A or USB C
2) which port did you use
3) can you go above 64gb or does it have to be 64gb exactly?

Thank you!
