I have a 2022 Chevy Suburban with the G86 locking limited-slip rear differential. When turning left or right, the rear makes a groaning or moaning noise. I heard there’s a TSB about this issue. Can anyone tell me which exact differential fluid I should use and the proper procedure to fix this problem according to the TSB? Thank you

I purchased a 2021 Yukon last october with around 63,000 miles on it. And the rear diff was groaning on cold mornings. After swapping the fluid, 1 year later, and around 5,000 miles more, still silent.

Do this procedure.

I also had the groaning noise coming from the rear differential. Shockingly, GM made replacing the rear diff fluid easy.... with both a fill plug and drain plug. The video above is helpful, but the oil used is incorrect. The G86 does not require friction modifier, and the correct gear oil is GM 19417365. Following replacement, the noise went away and has not come back!

To replace it, buy any 75w90 GL5 oil and a self-locking additive GM 88900330, and change it. The symptom goes away.

Not incorrect, just not the exact GM procedure. The 75W85 fluid is correct, and the extra LS fluid helps the clutches inside the G86 diff be lubricated properly. This has helped TONS of people, myself included (the maker of the video), just read the comments on the video. There are also numerous reports of people getting the 3x flush from the dealer and their noise coming back, or shelling out for a new diff.

My diff has been silent since doing that procedure in the video, about 5k miles ago over 12 months.

I changed the differential fluid in by 2021 Yukon Denali three times and the groaning noise from limited slip diff still persisted. I then used the Yukon Gear and Axle

Friction Modifier Positraction Additive for Limited Slip Differentials

Problem solved. The noise disappeared immediately.
