Hello everyone,
I’m an owner of a 2022 Tahoe 6.2L High Country in South Korea.
Only about 1,000 of these vehicles were sold here, so there’s very limited service experience or case history available. That’s why I’m reaching out to fellow members in the U.S. for advice.
Overall, I’ve been very satisfied with the vehicle (aside from an engine replacement issue in Feb 2025), but I’m currently struggling with a persistent suspension noise problem.
Symptom Summary
While driving, I hear a repeated “thump” noise and feel vibration from the rear passenger-side wheel area (MRC damper).
The conditions are:
When passing speed bumps at 20–30 km/h (12–18 mph)
At highway speeds (60 km/h / 37 mph and above) when driving over smooth dips in the road
Especially noticeable at rebound (when the damper returns to its original position)
Noise occurs more frequently when carrying more passengers or cargo
The sound is loud enough for passengers to clearly notice, and the vibration can be felt from the rear seat all the way to the front.
I’ve attached a video recorded using an action cam, dashcam, and 2-channel wireless mics.
It’s much more noticeable with headphones.
Please note: The noise may sound mild in the video, but in reality, it feels much stronger inside the vehicle.

What’s been done so far
Through the service center, several suspension components were replaced, but the noise persists.
Parts replaced include:
Air spring
MRC damper
Knuckle
CV joint
Upper arm
Trailing arm
However, the exact cause has not been identified.
Testing showed the noise is loudest from the right rear damper, so I’m beginning to suspect a possible control system issue:
Suspension Control Module (that controls the MRC dampers)
Accelerometer sensors
Ride height sensors
Interestingly, when I removed the suspension control module fuse, the noise disappeared completely.
With my diagnostic scanner, I checked real-time data and found something unusual:
Front passenger-side vertical wheel accelerometer outputs 2.3V
The other three wheel accelerometers output 2.6V
This makes me suspect that the electronic suspension may be misinterpreting road input from the front sensor, sending incorrect damping commands to the rear MRC damper, and thus causing the noise.
Reference: Recent GM Service Bulletin
I also found this Service Bulletin published by NHTSA in May 2025: Bulletin No.: 25-NA-110
It states that MRC dampers must be replaced in pairs (due to updated fluid) and the module must be reprogrammed after replacement.
Has anyone here had their MRC dampers replaced and software updated accordingly?
Request for help
If anyone has experienced and resolved a similar issue, I would greatly appreciate your input.
Thank you in advance!
