2013 Tahoe soft pedal only after bleeding

Hello all. I have a 2013 Tahoe with 140,000 miles. I recently replaced the front passenger side caliper due to it sticking after a hard brake recently. After replacement, I did the conventional bleed (pump pedal, hold, open bleeder, repeat)
I was unable to get a pedal after several times doing this. I bought a bidirectional scan tool and am able to get what seems most the pedal back. What has me stumped is after I do the ABS bleed, I have a decent pedal. Then I follow it up with the conventional bleed and lose all my pedal. I can regain my pedal just by running the abs bleed after all of this without even opening up the bleeders and just activating the ABS.
Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?

Yes we have. A pressure bleeder is the best way to get all the air out.

This is odd, but maybe it will help someone. I was able to get my pedal back after running the ABS bleed with a scanner. I didn’t open up the bleeders as the prompts on the scanner said to. When I did follow the instructions by opening up the bleeder I always lost my pedal. For some odd reason not opening up the bleeders and letting the ABS cycle all 4 wheels with the scan tool allowed my pedal to be normal. Anyone have theory to why?

me too
and I've replaced all hoses and calipers.
Anytime it rains or I'm driving in snow I do panic stops to flush ole fluid out of the abs system.

check that the new caliper isn't upside down. it's caught a lot of people out. the bleeder has to be up top. if they gave you a say a right side for a left side you'll be fighting air for days.

I appreciate the advice. I have confirmed the bleeders are on the top side of the calipers

that's good... you definitely got one I've not had or seen a post about.
