greetings,

I am looking to buy a used Tahoe
and I am wondering is it worth to pay more for 2009+ models to get the 6 speed transmission 6L80 ? or I will be OK with the old 4L6x transmission on 2007-2008 models ?

are there significant differences between them in economy, performance and reliability ?

thanks,
Ahmed

That really depends on you. The trans in the 07-08 models has been a workhorse for GM for, iirc, at least 20 years. It's proven itself as a good transmission. The new 6 speed trans, iirc, 6L70e, seems to be a good trans at this point, but it had only been out a few years. Only time will tell. As for fuel economy differences, the 6 speed seems to be averaging about 2mpg more than the 4 speed.
