Hi,

I am from France and I also have a 2001 Tahoe European (mine comes from Italy).

We all have the same problems here with these remote controls. In fact, the frequency of European Tahoe is not the same as the US and there are more for sale in nine.

On French forums we have returned the problem in every way. Otherwise you have companies that can reprogram and neutralize the anti-start.

For my part I have a remote and always a spare battery in the truck and I really pay attention to this very valuable.

The only thing you can do is find someone who sells his Tahoe for spare parts and get the remotes. But people are not crazy, they know that remotes are worth gold ... and Tahoe or Suburban are rare here and even more destroyed

It seems to me that you need the exact number of your remote.

The last time I had a boot problem, that's how it ended :D:

My mechanic came to tow me in his garage with a Peugeot 206 diesel. For our American friends, a 206 diesel is a 150-inch long car and 2,400 pounds with a 90-hp 2.0 lol diesel engine. Fortunately, we did not cross the police :anitoof:.

Since I changed the shell of the remote control and I still have a spare battery

Have you tried chevy to see if they could help?

That fob is supposed to work with all of these other vehicles too (at least in the US):

2000 Chevrolet Astro
1998-2001 Chevrolet Blazer
1998-2001 Chevrolet S10
1999-2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2500 3500
2000-2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 2500
2000-2001 Chevrolet Tahoe
1998-2001 GMC Jimmy
2000 GMC Safari
1999-2001 GMC Sierra 1500 2500 3500
1998-2001 GMC Sonoma
1999-2001 GMC Yukon
1998-2001 Oldsmobile Bravada

I would think you would be able to find a used one and program it, or that other number for the cars has the same frequency just an extra button.

What about installing a new receiver in the vehicle with a remote that matches that? Or an aftermarket remote? Obviously a bit more involved, but if its this or just let it sit there.. (which I don't understnad why someone couldn't just unlock/lock manually with the key).

What is the frequency of your remote? Did I see 433mhz?

Might be worth a try.

I spoke with chevrolet, only got the anwer that I had to get an aftermarket one, they dont make it anymore.
the reason I NEED the remote is not for the locking/unlocking, but to be able to start the car, because of the immobilizer, no fob= cant start the car, and I dont even know if its possible to disable the factory immobilizer.

hmm, the link for the remote you posted, I have one of those, the previous didnt know what it was for, I tried it but nothing happend, guess Il have to try it again, now that I know what it is, and how it should be used, god I hope it works

a friend at work have a 206, looks funny when we park next to eachother, like if the 206 would be able to park in the back :)
might sound strange for americans, but here the tahoe is huge, most cars are midzize, same with the pickups, everything is smaller over here haha, so the taho really sticks out, but I love it, guess I can always live in it, use it as a home if I cant find a remote that works:p

I think you need to have auto reprogramming specialists in Sweden.

In France, I had made an estimate to reprogram and neutralize the immobilizer of the vehicle, it took me 180€.

Nobody has already neutralized this system on Tahoe? There is no box that can work around this problem?

we do have reprogrammers, but their place is about a 10h drive from where I live, and they need me to go there, but they are not sure they can do it, so that option is on the backburner for now, if there had been a box to bypass the imobilizer I would get one right away, but none that I know of. the battery was dead in the "universial remote" so I have to see if that works tomorrow.

Buy a new plastic shell at the same time. My remote hardly worked anymore, the rubber buttons inside were worn out.

I found on Wish but you also have on ebay (4 € the three shell). Since I have no problem with

By the time we converse (1:45 pm at home and 7:45 am in New York), our friends have to wake up  wait if someone has an idea

The tahoe brings nations together :D:D

contacted chevrolet germany to ask if they knew what frequency the remote use, since the car was sold in germany, they didnt have that information, they told me to contact chevrolet united states, so I did, they didnt have that information, was told to contact eneral Motors Heritage Center, phone number 586-276-0693 or 586-276-0691. [email protected]. so I will try that now, atleast I would be able to get some form of aftermarket remote, if I knew the correct frequency.
