Weep hole is on the bottom of the water pump. Just slide your ass under there with a flashlight. Look for the wet spot--lol--or green or rusty residue.

Has cooled enough to de pressurize the rad so will keep an eye on it. Rad is full and clear, well green and clean.
Not much room to showcase my photography skills but can you make out the gasket and back plat on the pump?

Usually, they start to leak when they need replaced. I'd say thats your culprit
Yes I think so too. All I've had to do for the last couple of years is oil, filter and coolant so it's been a good run while it lasted.[emoji106]
So when I do the pump I'll do a new serpentine belt, thermostat, bottom hose.
I dont do a lot of miles but it will be good to flush the system and get new fluid in there.
Lol I might do plugs n wires as well.
Always the way isnt it! Am just organising myself to get the rear leaves reset and a local shop reckon they can put together some heavy duty shocks to stiffen the ride back up.
Winter truck projects time[emoji122].
Cheers man.

Hi
Just looking at water pumps to see what is around. There are a few available options in the country, the most expensive being an edelbrock for $695.00 the others are $95.00-$230.00 ish
Was just having a look at the yukon to see if it is the same as an ac delco cast pump I've found on a local trade site. Looks the same. Not sure if I'm short or long tho so need to work that out.

Anyway just looking at it and I can see a small pool of water in the v of the block under the thermostat housing. May not be pump?

Could it be the valley gasket? I recently decreased top end of the motor but I can see moisture in the crevice between valley and rocker cover. No oil in the water and is cooling well.

Going for a long drive tomorrow so will check when I get there and when I get back as any moisture should evaporate off the block. Then check again when it's cold to see if wee pool on block again. [emoji849]

Those are bad for the intake gaskets to leak. That's definitely a possibility
I had heard that.Prone to Injection problems around 200k also.[emoji849]
When I 1st got it my thoughts were to dump the factory injection, install an edelbrock performer vortec manifold and do a 4bbl injected carb along with Hei ignition and a wee cam n headers.[emoji41]
I'm a long way off doing that and tbh I've been pretty happy with how it performs this far![emoji106]
Is the word Stop Leak Additive a bad word in the short term [emoji37]

Tbh I am ignorant to what is stock GMC on it and what has been changed ie: the Tahoe grill.
Bumper may have been changed.

Is a well travelled unit.
Definitely" BORN IN THE U.S.A
Been to Japan, now living in New Zealand
Who knows where else it's been!?

I found a rear bumper at a wrecker the other day off a 94 Sierra. Perfect match to mine so are they generic?
He wanted 500 bucks for it! So he can keep it! Much better condition than mine but Wth?!!
Rare Spares....A greedy little man with shit that I want lol [emoji849][emoji110][emoji869]

Have hooked another rca cable to the back so I can add another amp to run some more speakers while it's in bits

And we have a winner!! [emoji106] [emoji849]It is the valley gasket. Water pump is allgood
Went out for a drive in the country. Yukon went very well.

@80 mph it was pulling 30psi on the oil pressure gauge and water temp sat comfortably in the middle just under the thick bar between 100 & 210. So what's that 150-155°f?

Got home and let it cool for a few hours and checked the manifold and wee pool back again in the v beneath the thermostat housing and on a sheet of cardboard I sat under the front of the engine.

You tube got a hiding and was about what I thought I'd have to do.
Called my mechanic and he quoted me $250-300 to do the job in 3 hours so I reckon he can do it. Would take me all day and I'd be wrenching the whole job.

Not scared to do it but would be good to get a professional opinion on the condition of the motor as he is into his American V8s
Will find a gasket and book it in.[emoji106]

Oh Shit!!!
Look what just turned up!
Won an auction for this months ago and the guy selling it never got back to me about shipping so I just moved on and repaired n painted the Tahoe grill.

This needs a couple of repairs,a good clean and then a color change to my ever favourite color. You guessed it! Black
