Get those codes resolved before doing anything with the transmission...Cat converter failure can impact transmission performance so want to fix it before diagnosing the transmission.
That said, slipping in 1st gear is indicative of forward clutch pack pending failure which means it's time for a rebuild. So if it's still doing it after you replace the CC, diagnose the transmission and if necessary, yank it out for overhaul.
Appreciate you and everyone else advice. Final update: got the servo installed. The mechanic told me it wouldn’t fix my problem and the band was worn and needed replaced. A day after driving with the servo the tranny finally gave. As mad as I was at first and as much as I wanted to blame the guy that installed the servo I realize now it just sped up the inevitable. Decided to take it to certified transmission for an evaluation even though I already knew what the feedback would be. He gave me a long list of reasons as to why the best course of action would be to get it replaced and told me they had one in shop and could get it done in a full work day most likely. He told me the engine and everything else seemed to be in very good shape and that the previous owner took good care of it. Then gave me a quote which was almost double what I paid for the vehicle. (3600$) I knew logically it would be a better idea to cut my losses and move on but for whatever reason I just loved this Tahoe. I knew I would likely spend 3k+ on a replacement vehicle and still not know what I was getting at that point. They offered a 5yr 100k mile warranty and financing (paid 1600 cash got 2k car care credit loan with no interest if paid in full within 6 months) I decided to do it and the end of the next day they called me and I picked it up. Drives like a dream now and I know it might not of been the best financial decision but tbh.. I regret nothing. Learned a lot. Found this awesome site with great people. And got peace of mind and my Tahoe back. Thanks for the help and advice everyone who took the time to give it. I appreciate all of you.
