My '07 Yukon XL Denali has the 6.2 motor in it, has ~160k miles on it.

When I start it one of the lifters is noisy. Talked with a local garage and the guy asked if I knew if it was the DSM (??) motor?

How can I tell? He said if it is not the DSM motor then he would not need to pull the heads to replace the lifters.

The correct terms are:
DOD = Displacement On Demand
or
AFM = Active Fuel Management

and NO your engine does not have this system active.

Here’s some neat trivia: The L92 actually had a first and second design.

The first design, built prior to April 1, 2006 contained AFM components, but were left disconnected from the ECM.

The second design eliminated the AFM components altogether.

Any idea on when the second design was rolled out?
