LEd reverse lights

I picked up led reverse lights on ebay, even though they are white there is too much blue hue to any brighter than stock. Has anyone bought a set of BRIGHT bulbs? My daughter drives it occasionally and I want her to have clear sight backing up.

I'd look into these from SuperBrightLEDs.com

At least a few guys here have added LED fog lights for backup lights. I've been considering that as well with these 6" Oval Work Lights, also from SuperBrightLEDs.

Its pretty hard to beat 3457 halogens for ~$5 a pair @500lm for the bang for your buck factor. I have these in two vehicles, they are an improvement certainly.

5730 and 2835 chipsets are generally the higher powered lights.

These work pretty darn good in my friends Titan for less than $20:

He has them installed in the third brake light housing to light up his bed @ night. Works very well for that.

Those are only 270lm.

it would look 'whiter,' but not actually throw more light.

Where did you pick up yours? AZ search didn't show halogen.

I got mine off ebay pretty cheap. They've got the 5730 smd leds. In the first pic, the new one is on the right. The ones on the left are what I used to have, not that bright at all.

Good call. The 5730s are the best chips atm afaik. Looks good, how's the throw? What was the cost? The problem with eBay is the huge variation in quality. I got some really scrappy ones last time I ordered from there.

I have some of those same LED's with the 5730's.
even tho the base are identicle to standard 3157 and all of my other LED 3157's.
I had one that just wouldnt snap into my from DRL sockets.
ended up bringing my reverse LED's up front and the new 5730's to rear.

I got a pair that was bad. Sent a complaint to the seller, got a refund and a new pair and I got to keep the originals. Only one was bad too.

My mistake, they were 5630 smd leds, not the 5730. About the same output though.

Installed the 3457 ge nighthawks over the weekend. They are brighter than standard/factory but not as bright as I hoped for. With tinted windows I want as much light as possible.
Anyone use a bulb from driving lamps or fog lamps?

I've seen someone take apart a fog light bulb, bend the contacts into a U shape, and shove it into the plug for the reverse light. It seemed to work and was bright as all hell from the pics.
EDIT: I found a link on the reverse light mod.. He used 894 fog light bulbs in the reverse light plug.

I bought some flush mount LED fog lights I plan on mounting on my rear bumper. I've got 5% tint all around and it's hard as hell to see anything while backing up at night.
