2013 GMC Yukon XL Denali factory reman motor 20k miles ago.

About a month ago, my wife called me and told me the engine died going 10 to 15 miles an hour. She started it up and it happened again.

Hasn’t happened since then. This morning it died four times in the span of 1000 yards.

All while going 10 to 15 miles an hour.

What happens is the engine starts to rev up then drops RPMs revs up drops RPMs and then dies. There’s always a strong smell of fuel afterwards.

I got it and hit 45 miles an hour pretty quick and hasn’t died since then

What are your thoughts?

check the fuel pressure it should be 50+ key on engine off, 43psi engine running at idle.
the fuel smell could be the evap purge solenoid allowing fuel fumes in from the gas tank it is on the front drivers side of the engine, that could also be a possibility, when idling the solenoid should be closed.

Ok with a scan tool (not a fuel pump pressure gauge) I’m seeing 56.1 psi at KOEO.

I’ll check the solenoid later tonight. I did replace that a little over a year ago.

I’ve replaced the evap purge solenoid within the last two years. I

Checked the solenoid and it’s closed. I’ve got access to live data on my scan tool so I’m gonna keep it going and hopefully I can replicate the problem and figure out what’s going on. Any other thoughts/suggestions?

just watch all your data when it is happening or do a drive record if you have that option.
I would be looking at the maf/throttle body/map/ambient temp data next
if one of the sensors is out of whack it can make it do all kinds of weird stuff
clean the maf, clean the throttle body, get a new air filter, that's all basic maintenance.
check the battery cables & clean & wire brush the battery connections even if they look ok

Fuel smell is it trying to stay running. It was what u call hunting. If it cranks right back up the it's not fuel related. Idle air/throttle body or a vacuum leak. Just my take.
