Monday my battery left me stranded at the haircut place. Wouldn’t even start after a jump.

Then, yesterday, my AC started going from cold to cool to warm and back. I did an HVAC actuator calibration, and it seemed to get worse. Apparently my 20 year old blend door actuator died during the calibration. So, ordered a genuine GM replacement from Amazon and it was delivered today. I just spent 30 minutes swapping it out and all seems well again.

Was it the front actuator? How hard was it to do?

It was the blend door actuator located on the far left side of the passenger footwell, to the right of the center console.. It was very easy - only took about 30 minutes. I sprung for a genuine GM replacement which was pricey, but hopefully will work for another decade or two...

Amazon link to GM 89018365:

you either dont have a console, removed it, or have very small hands lol i left the console in, and my 3x glove wearing hands came out bleeding. royal pita job.

I wear XL gloves. The screw on the interior of the actuator was a pain in the neck and was by far the worst part of the job

toss some air bag helpers in the coils springs. they will keep the ass end up higher and level out the trailer frame for ya. and improve the ride when towing
When I refreshed the rear suspension of the 03 Z71, Timbren bump stops were used w/ new Moog Z71 springs and air bags for the Ram 1500 (allow higher pressure than the ones for the Tahoe) - complete PIA to install in springs but worth it (to me).

Springs were direct replacement in this case (old ones just worn out). New ones ~1.25” taller.

Old spring (w/red air bladder) & new (w/black):

Started to paint some flaking areas on roof, sunroof edge..
Unfortunately, I leaned onto the sunroof air deflector and broke it off! :banghead:
Looks like it's riveted in place.. I hope its replaceable somehow without installing an entire sunroof assembly..

Do you have a link to those rear bumper stops? I'd like to give those a shot--if they're cheap enough.

Cheap / Cost Effective is all relative…

They are available @ multiple vendors.

I got mine on an EBay “special”…

Agree.
The correct (red ones) did install without too much issue.

The black ones are not designed for the Tahoe and are thicker and taller. I fought them tooth & nail during the install.

Would not have been able to install them with the springs mounted on the truck.

Got stuck on the beach had to get dragged off.. not fun.. 4wd did not engage.
Switch works the lights changed, heard a clunk, but front wheels weren't spinning, no CEL

Also noticed recently when rinsing underneath my truck in my driveway there's a sheen of oil on the ground
I gotta crawl back under there and look I think its seeping on the passenger side
Thinking its the actuator or fork, possibly a bad seal now too

Swapped out the transfer case encoder motor Sunday (only day with no rain)...seems be working fine. Also installed classic flow master series 40 muffler. Sounds good.

Took it for the bi-annual emissions test. Since it was on the road this past month we ran premium, not the usual E85. Although the 91 octane gas numbers are slightly higher than they were on E85, it still passed with flying colors. Almost 119k on the odo.

Next tank we'll go back to E85 since it's available around here.

so I am pretty sure my power steering pump is crying little tears
thinking of replacing it with a Lares pump

considering getting a new steering gearbox while im in there, it should be the last part to tighten up my steering since i've done all the rest of it.
anyone have success with new Lares units? are they worth it? is it the same amount of turns lock-to-lock for the same factory feel?

I paid $3.50 for corn on Tuesday. I'm sure it's been high for you out in CO, but that's the highest I've ever paid here in DFW.

Gas Buddy says the local Maverik (my usual place) is $3.69. I won't need any for a while unless I decide to drive it more. I have a few runs to Lowe's to pick up bags of mulch, so it'll be getting some exercise.

Never heard of the Lares box. I just put in a "Plews & Edelmann"box. Completely new including the housing.
Guaranteed for life. Includes a pressure dyno sheet. I LOVE THE BOX…. ( just a little faster turn )
They are not the cheapest….. But it’s worth it.
