You could always try reaching out to Customer Service and see what they have to say but I wouldn’t expect too much.

My 22 Z51 got the motor in 3 weeks and replaced , back to me in five weeks. I checked trade in on different sights and hit a high of 54K. I paid 85K ( 5 K was a premium dealer charge because they were hard to get back then) That’s a big hit for me to take. No little kids anymore. I was looking at a used Macan.

$54k for a 4-year-old vehicle? What do you think it should be worth? (Not asking rhetorically— I’m interested in knowing what you think is fair on these, since I’m under the impression that they depreciate pretty quickly.)

Headed out after work tonight, was going to head to Costco after work. Started up the Denali, drove about 2 miles, started hearing a loud knock/rattle from the engine. Sound reminded me of a playing card in the bicycle spokes. Pulled over, put it in park, could clearly hear the knocking, it varied with engine RPM. My GMC dealer was about 3 miles away, so I gingerly drove it to them, pulled in the service drive. Service manager popped the hood and listened. He said, "Definitely coming from the engine. This is a 6.2, right?"

I answered, 'Yes, of course."

He said, "doesn't sound good. I don't want to send you out of here with it."

My service advisor wrote it up, said they don't have a loaner right now, but offered the shuttle to take me home. He said after diagnosing tomorrow, he will call. If it is the engine, they will get me a looaner or a rental.

Details:
Odometer at 44,780
Recall was performed and passed pico test in June at 38k, been on 0W-40 since then.
Had a paid oil change at 43,200 about 2 weeks ago, along with front and rear diff fluid change, transmission fluid and filter, transfer case fluid, and replaced the battery.

Engine still ran when I left the dealer at 5:30, but is knocking badly. Guessing I'm in for a new engine, but we will see tomorrow; I'll keep you all posted.
Sorry that happened to you. I’m on that list as well. Canadian truck/ GMC Yukon , 9,000 kms ( 5600 miles )on it. Driving home on the highway at freeway speed a message suddenly pops up on the cluster that says “ PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON “ or similar to that. A little startled to see that and beyond odd seeing as the engine was running fine and we were driving about 65 mph at the time.

Seconds later. Couple somewhat quiet noises… And that’s that. Dash lights all go out. Truck is dead in the water - flat bed to a dealer where I’m informed a couple days later that my 6.2 is a goner. Didn’t even make it to 10,000 km. GM fan my whole life and have owned one after another but the last couple , nothing but issues.

What year is your truck? Sorry to hear about your troubles. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed...)

With a new engine installed I would be happy to keep the truck. New replaced engine should add a lot to the value since the old OEM engine was a gamble if it would live or die.

It was a 2024
...And when you lost the dash electronics and whatnot, could you still use your blinker (or 4-way flashers)? If this happens at night, do you lose your headlights?

Thanks for the info.

I've been watching NHTSA Investigation RQ260001 for a while now. It is specifically for L87's which failed after the recall remedy.
Tomorrow is the day GM is due to provide responses to the questions.
Hopefully won't be too long before the documents are posted. Not sure how much will end up redacted or marked confidential, will be fun to watch.

Lots of Facebook posts about 2025/26 engines failing as well as replacement engines. Doesn't appear to be affecting 5.3L.

Any idea where to track this response?

What do you get for fuel economy around town/day to day and on the highway at 75mph+?
Always run 93 (unless 91 is all I can get, which happens sometimes, but assume these numbers are on 93).

Around town, usually get about 13 in the winter and 14.5 in the summer (I run Bizzaks in the winter)
Highway is highly wind dependent.
On a Calm day, at around 72-74 MPH, it is consistent at 20-20.5
A little tail wind at its 21-21.5
Some headwind and its 18-18.5

Not bad really. Those are town numbers are what get in my F-150 3.5 eco boost while the Yukon XL diesel is 19’ish.

I drive a little faster on the highwayk but 18mpg is rare in the F150. And
24-25 mpg all day long in the Diesel.
