I think you were probably using a general “you” there, but I don’t assume GM has traceability. Otherwise, as I said, they’d know which VINs were bad.You assume that GM has traceability. That's the fallacy. All the parts from all the vendors or internally made, go in one big bin. No. First in, first out. No, separated by who made them. Just a big pile of parts that they assume that are all good. That's why you can get three good engines in a row, and then get a bad one, then get 6 bad ones in a row. The only true way to know what went where is to serialize things. And that ain't happening.....
