Hey, sorry to bump an old post. But I am trying to wire in a rearview mirror that will use the rear camera to use as video instead of a mirror.

It came with a camera to install, but I want to tap into the oem camera to make it as oem as possible.

Had the wiring apart like you did. What wires did you use? Did you eventually get another camera wired in and working?
Having driven a number of vehicles with backup cameras I wouldn't bother with the stock camera. There are so many aftermarket mirrors with much better resolution and more features including zoom.

So would there be a way to wire in a new camera to the stock plug?

I don't know. I just ordered a rear view camera mirror that mounts like OEM on the windshield. It's an inch smaller than stock but gives me dash cam functionality as well as better rear view. The descriptions I found are a little sparse so this is going to be a trial. I think it changes the zoom level to act as a backup camera so I'll see.

I did just that in my 2011. I installed a bigger 9.1" head unit. The larger screen highlighted the poor resolution of the OEM camera, as well, the colors were off. I removed the OEM camera, cut off the plug and attached it to my new aftermarket camera. I believe I only used wires 1,2,4,5,6 from the earlier post. The OEM camera turns on with a signal on wire 3 whereas the after market camera is always on with voltage on wire 6. These are small wires so it takes some care.

Also, I was lucky and did not have to disassemble my tailgate. The OEM camera is held in by melting 4 little plastic pins in the applique. I inserted a small then screwdriver and popped them out. There was enough slack in the harness I was able to pull out the connector where I could disconnect the camera. I was able to use the original mount replacing the OEM camera inside it with this one. Then I siliconed in the mount and camera to the applique.

I installed the Jensen Car910w. Now I would install the new car1013w. It does sit close to the gear shift but that really isn’t a problem. People hate on Jensen but they have been more reliable (and a lot cheaper) than the pioneers I have installed previously.
