My day has turned to :favorites68: !!!!!!

I have done everything I can think of and my yukon still wont turn over!!!

I have installed a new battery & starter, new cables ( + & - ) and it still wont turn over! I have pulled all the spark plugs, so there should be no compression on the motor and CANNOT turn the motor over by hand or with a wratchet direct from the fly wheel center bolt (cam shaft bolt!) !!!!

So I am stumped!!! :wtf2:

I can only think timing gear and chain broke? But it's a 5.7L and I believe they are both steel upper and lower gears.... OR the motor vapor locked from dumping to much fuel into the motor? (had a check engine light w/code P0175..rich bank, prior to this problem) ... OR I have a bent rod?

Anyone have any other ideas as to why I can't turn the motor over??????

Motor has 177K miles on it!!!

Any help would be greatly appretiated!!

So you tried to start it one day and nothing?

It ran fine before? , just happened?

Any particles/metal in your oil?

I guess i would start taking the front accessories off and inspect the timing chain, maybe take it off then try to rotate the crank again.

Man, that really, really sucks!
I feel your pain...

Anyone have any place they have bought a crate motor for a good price or know someplace ?!?!?!?!?

A few months ago, I just bought a new GM crate motor. Cyl's 3&4 valve giudes were done, and I was loosing oil at 1ltr per week, and fouling plugs at the rate of one plug a week per cyl. Blew a distributor ring gear, cyl's 3,4,& 6 only had 90psi, etc. I could have rebuilt the heads, but decided I was going to keep the truck and bought a new crate motor.

Although it's a lot cheaper to buy a rebuilt short block motor, if you plan on keeping the truck for awhile it may be worth it to buy the 0kms GMC crate motor for the peace of mind. It comes with a factory 3yr 160000kms warranty too!

A long block, I think they called it, new timing stuff, cam, everything but intake and distributor stuff. IDK, I kept the old motor, it's in my shed in the new motors crate. I'm thinking V8 snowblower???

I paid $3500CAD+taxes installed. Came out to just shy of $4k.

If you do buy a new motor, you will like it!
I do, I have much better fuel economy, and (maybe it's in my head) alot more power. It doesn't seem to downshift going up hills on cruise control as much as before. Plus I can take my buddies Chev 5.3L pickup now, I couldnt before. (Just tried it once at about the 6200kms mark. I'm still going easy on full throttle until after 10000kms.)

What sucked is that I didn't get a block heater with it! I had to buy one and put it in..hehe

I've got about 8000kms on it now. To help break it in, I put regular castrol 10w30 in, and changed it every 1000kms up to the 5000kms mark. Then I switched over to Castrol full synthetic. It's when I switched over to full synthetic that I noticed the increased fuel economy and power. When I hit 10000kms, I will change oil again. You've never seen oil so clean and clear on a dipstick before! It went to about the 2500kms mark before it started to turn darker.

One thing though, watching Monster Garage must have made me biased on Jegs motors. I thought it would come with nice shiny chrome valve covers, oil filler, oilpan, etc. Nope, just flat black paint. I was dissapointed when I didn't see chrome...LOL $4k and no chrome.. sigh...

I really hope that you don't by a rebuilt, and buy new. If your keeping your truck, you'll like the warranty and knowing that when you turn the key, it'll start everytime.

Good luck!
