Bolt it directly in and fire it up. You will need a tune for it to run properly tho.
So dont do out beating on it or you will hurt it.

I understand that early 6.0s (2000-2002) had iron heads and a different crank that protruded more from the back. Stay way from them or get the tranny that came attached. The 2005-2006 6.0s got some minor internal improvements. If your's is a flex fuel 5.3, then reuse your complete intake assembly (manifold, injectors, fuel rail, t-body). You will immediately want to get a computer tune. Your trans may not hold up to the increased torque of the 6.0.

Apparently the longer 6.0 cranks were from 1999-2000.

I am going to say YES . It should be that easy. I am doing the same swap in the winter. I have done all the research and this Is what i am doing and should work for you also.
my 6.0 has EGR and my 5.3 don't so I will be using the 5.3 exhaust manifolds and intake and fuel rail. change the knock sensors and harness, silicone the connectors, Retune the PCM in your truck(I have been told its better to use the one that came with your vehicle)
I am getting a towing tune. I have talked to a few turners, I am not liking my local guys but for the info they tell me I will have more power and the same MPG as the 5.3.
For me if i can get that I will be Very happy. To follow I will be getting a BLACK BEAR tune.
Do your research on tuning that's the hardest part. Everyone says they can do it but they can't, Please let me know how you make out. I will have updates when I start mine.

It's a viscous cycle. If u start upgrading it will snowball. I started a motor swap, decided to changed the cam and I ended up changing everything except the intake lol..i have the Autocal from BBP and it's pretty straight forward. My longtubes have an EGR port so it should bolt up.

I ran a 6.0 pcm on my 5.3 due to a tuning issue with my cooling fans after they were activated so it should work the other way as well..

It sure does. I am trying to keep it simple. LETS SEE HOW THAT GOES! I just want a bit more that what was available from factory and I think with what I am going to do I will be more than happy. I love the truck now so a little more won't hurt HAHAHA

I'm wanting to go with a different cam while the motor is out since it'll be easier to do instead of pulling the whole front end off to change the cam later
