Hello All, My folks have a 01 Tahoe and want me to put in new speakers for them...they don't want a new headunit :( so my question for you is what are the best speakers that I can get for them while keeping the stock headunit...also if I am able to convince them to splurge and get a new headunit what are your favorites?

honestly, there are soooooo mnay good ones. Best advice, is go spend a day listening to many. Don't fall into the trap of buying at the first store. Test many, let your ears, and wallet decide.

^^^Exactly what he said. There are way too many choices. What sounds good to someone else may not sound as good to you. Spend a day comparing different brands and types and go from there. Some are going to have a warmer sound, some will have a wider frequecy response, etc. The main reasons behind choosing a particular set is going to be your personal preference and budget.

search B&M ma-pa retail shops, with a good rep in your area, they can guide you to low line, medium and high end.

I've been to a couple of shops and they dont have speakers on display to demo. I had asked and they said, " thats old school and now people either know what they want, or they trust us with what we recomend." I had heard "Hertz" and they sounded really good, just the price was high. I'm gonna have to go around to some other shops and see if they may have some i can hear.

wow...I'd find another shop. The deal about buying from a dealer, you should be able to look, feel and listen to them. If they say 'trust us', then I'd walk...that's part of the service, you'd think...
