Hey everyone. Long time lurker, few time poster.

I have a 2002 Suburban that's getting a complete makeover in the fall. I have about $5,600 set aside for suspension, wheels, tires, and hopefully a little bit of change left for a few other goodies (tint, speakers, etc...). So I'm putting together a list of everything I'll need suspension wise so I can knock everything out in one weekend.

I'm buying the NorCalSS Ultimate Handling package (http://www.tbssowners.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=102) along with tie rods and such to entirely rebuild the front suspension. New bushings are going in the rear along with the kit, and I'm thinking about the adjustable Spohn trailing arms if I can be convinced that they're worth the money.

But I can't decide on wheels!!! Specifically, 22 or 24, and chrome or black.

Here's the truck as it sits right now...

My heart tells me 24's with this big truck, but my wallet is telling me 22's. I'm looking for more sporty than bling since I plan on doing extensive motor/tranny mods (hopefully a stroker on nitrous), so help me out so I can get the right look! Here are my options so far...

In a 24 OR 22 I'm looking at these...

In a 22 I'm looking at these...

Keeping in mind, the front end will be color matched (or an SS bumper, but I'm undecided) with either an HD or ram air style hood.

Opinions please!!! I'm torturing myself over this over here.

I've had 22's in the past but never 24's. I'm going to be building a "performance" truck (as much as I can with a huge heavy suburban) so I don't want wheels that will hinder more than help. Will the 24's hurt my performance in any reasonable amount over the 22's?

22s are almost 98 lbs.

No shame in 22s on a nbs..... at all

That's a good point. The 24's seem to really fit the NBS well, but they border that line of looking purposeful and looking ghetto. Especially if the drop isn't deep enough.

I'm leaning towards 22's, but just have to decide what looks good on a truck that's so long.

I vote tbss rims in black on 22 with a nice wide tire and also good amount of sidewall for a smooth ride.

I'm really stuck when it comes to the TBSS rims. All three colors look pretty good on black. Of course, I could always get chrome and then dip the wheels black for the winter and have the best of both worlds.

Here's another look for you in the comp grey. Been a personal favorite and have considered as well for my NBS.

Grey is the wildcard. It gives a nice contrast to the black without being too loud. Those pictures just made my decision even harder!

Are the grey TBSS wheels painted or powder coated? I'm really starting to like their understated look. I think black wheels on a blacked out truck may be a little too much black. Chrome may be a little bit too loud, and may be a little bit overpowering. Or I'm just overthinking it.

Like I mentioned in my first post, I'm building this truck as a fun driver. I know it'll never autocross or put down 9 second passes, but I'm going to do my best to build the best highway cruiser that I can. So I'm trying to get the muscular SS look without being too over the top. I think grey might give me that.

If I had to do it again, even as much as I love the way the 22's look, I'd probably go with 20's.

Maybe I'm just getting old (not even 30 yet) but the 22's make it suffer in every category except aesthetics.

I'll trade you my 20s for your 22s.

I know what you mean, which is why I don't ride motorcycles anymore. The stress of not being taken out by a car made street riding unpleasurable, and track riding is a crazy expensive hobby (especially when you lay one down). I'm 31 and am starting to appreciate the nicer things in life.... but I still want to look good while doing it =) So right now 22's are a tradeoff I'm willing to deal with. Call it a pre-midlife crisis dress rehearsal.

I already had mine, reached my income goal (which of course is no longer enough) and bought an 80's 911. How cliche is that?

Looking for more in life now.

I was making $15k a month at one point in contract aviation (I'm an aircrewman) and walked away from everything to train dogs. I'm sure I'll get back to that point one day, but it won't be soon.

Until then, I'm going to play with my truck. Suspension/brakes come first, then interior (going to attempt a color change from tan to all black), then driveline mods. I'll likely pick up a used 6.0 block and heads and build it in the garage over time. It has been a long time since I've touched one, but I was ASE certified in engine rebuilding at one point so I'm sure it'll all come back.

Anyhow, back on topic, the votes seem to be the TBSS rims with grey coming out as the favorite so far. They were probably my third choice coming in to this, behind either of the 2 Crave wheels.
