Going to start looking into getting a denali or escalade. Glad I waited for the update. These changes should have been available from launch.

Not constantly. But I've towed before with it.

I may be crazy, but I think I lost 25% field of view behind the boat to the smaller design.

That being said, a small gripe in a ton of great stuff.

8-speeds should replace all 6-speeds in 5.3L V8s by approximately 2nd quarter 2015. The 6-speed should be permanently discontinued at that time according to the Toledo Powertrain Assembly Plant article where both of these units are built.

BTW, the new 2015.5 Platinum Escalades debuting in 90 days has new larger mirrors. Perhaps this design may trickle down to other models?

The 6 speed's programming is absolutely horrible. Slow shifts, and a huge shift delay when flooring it.
I can only hope that GM allows a more aggressive shifting program with the 8.

If the 8 speed proves to be a better shifting unit in my wife's Denali, my 6 speed Silverado will be gone by next spring for a new 8 speed.

Just drive a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8...then drive a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 with their 8-speed automatic. BIGGGGG difference....

Read the reviews....everything else is status quo; only the transmission changed.

Not really. They both are pretty close as far as GVWR. Get your facts straight before you spout off on a forum.

I've also got an '08 Yukon SLT sitting beside the X5, so I know what I'm talking about.

Yes you are complete right,I did use a x5 six months and is why I have my facts in the forum, I do apologize if for any reason I did offended you or any one in the forum, but is what I notice in between the to cars.

My understanding is that one of the major perks of the 8L90 is that it shifts extremely quickly. Apparently it's faster than the DCT in the Porsche. One of the major flaws of the 6 speed is that I often don't seem to have the right gear, especially when driving over mountain passes.

The L86 mated to the 8L90 is going to be a pretty killer combination.

Sweet, can't wait to drive one with the 8 speed. Can't believe this wasn't ready a few months ago on the original launch. WTH, GM?

Should have at least waited for 2016 to release these goodies.
