This is hilarious. I'm actually sitting by my front door as we speak drinking a beer waiting for the UPS guy to deliver my finished retrofits in new oem replica headlights.

The woman doesn't understand the addiction as I refresh my UPS app every 5 minutes!

Heyyyy Missed you around here.

What you been up to?

What rides do you have now?

Nothing much major.

Ripped the roof rack of the Yukon XL. Added Factory fogs and tow hooks.

On the Suburban just need to install my retro HID set.

I have to say that I am impressed with your work & work ethic,..not many folks get it all done as you have.. Damn Beautiful Truck !!

I am somewhat in the same shoes as you, I own an 07 Sierra VortecMax CC 4WD; a 2009 Tahoe LTZ L9H; a 1976 IH Scout II (Frame Off Resto) and just bought a 2014 Tahoe Texas Edition for a sales/daily driver vehicle.

I am going to do some of the mods on the 09 with the L9H engine and need a little help.

First thing is to remove the roof rack off both Tahoes.. I read your post about using set screws & marine silicone and I have the name of the company you purchased the trim from, but I need the model or number of the trim.

Thanks for you help,

Thirdcoast

Rack Mods

Thanks GIB.

I am going to do both the 09 & the new 14 as I really like the look and will never use the rack..

I have probably owned 20 Suburbans or Tahoes in my life & never used the rack or the third seat.. I wish they would make the rack an option.. I also wonder what they do on the PPV vehicles ?? Maybe just don't drill the holes in the first place..

The 09 with the 6.2L has the MIT and SLP tip, but I have been advised to leave the exhaust alone as it will not improve the performance.. so just the MIT, AR Filter & a tune by a local guy who does some good work..

Thanks for your help,

Ahh jealous you got a retro done? Nice. Not much with me, school etc. Yukon is gone for good now which is why I haven't been on in forever. Just thought id check in. I'll post some pics and info on my new 'beater' I bought last month.

Nice to hear from ya!

Molding

Hey GIB,

Did you ever find the model of the molding you used on the roof??

I am taking the rack off both Tahoes this weekend and am going with the set screws & silicone sealant.. just need the molding to complete..

I looked on the website & think I know which one and it actually comes in a silver & a silver sand.... may not have to paint them...

Is this the one you used?

European Style Molding 15/16" x 16', 10 colors available, see color chart for availability. Backed with 3M Automotive Acrylic Foam Tape for superior performance and easy application. P/N BT(COLOR)-16

or this one

O.E. Style Bullet Tip (Slim Line) Rounded Side Molding - Kit sold as two 1 3/8 in. x 7 ft. pieces with formed tips. One trim kit will complete one car. Backed with 3M Automotive Acrylic Foam Tape for superior performance.

Colors are solid, all the way through the molding. 26 Colors Available, see color chart for availability. P/N 14(COLOR)BT-14

Thanks again for your help..

Hey Friend.

I used this moulding in black .......... http://www.vinylgraphics.net/produc...in-Black-European-Style-Molding-by-Trim-Gard/

..........ONLY Because I have Suburban, and the longer roof span means that I would have had to to cut the painted version and join in the middle. I did not want to do that so I just used the black long version. The painted version does not come in a length long enough to seamlessly cover the holes for a Suburban / XL version.

Since you have a Tahoe, you are thinking correctly to get the painted version.
