best muffler for my 99 tahoe

im looking to add a little rumble to my truck. i have heard good things about the FM 40 series. im not looking for anything really loud. i just want it to make a little more noise. any input. and can someone post up a link the the exact size and what not ill need. or if yall have any other suggestions as far as that goes. thanks in advance,

Flowmasters are a very popular muffler. They offer an agressive sound that has a nice rumble. I have a Magnaflow on my Hoe and love it. It's not obnoxious but does offer a nice little rumble. I recommend it. Are you looking to replace just your muffler or put a whole new exhaust system on?

Borla is great. How was that? Have one on my tahoe and I love the sound and it is very well built. Had one on an old camaro and it sounded great. I highly recomend them. You always get whay you pay for. Buy a low cost muffler and you get a cheap muffler ya know.

Yes you will notice if you just swap the muffler. If you are like many of us you need it loud.

As with any company, it depends on the series you get. I have the ProXS series which is basically the Performance Turbo series but with lowered cost. They are specifically manufactured for exhaust shops to offer as a lower priced option but still retaining the performance qualities Borla features.

Above is a quick search & turned up this site. You can compare them to Flowmasters & the Borla pricing is less. They can be comparable to MagnaFlow or Gibson in terms of pricing.

Do you have dual cats or a y into a single in/single out? It doesn't hurt to stop by an exhaust shop & see what they recommend. This way you can ask questions, get pricing, dimensions, & ideas!

Mine is a dual cat set-up so I have 2 offset mufflers that dual out the back at 45* angle with tips.

I suppose great set-ups can only be emulated & duplicated.

Ironically, I have some Magnaflow cats waiting to get swapped out along with some Doug Thorley ceramic coated headers.

I've used both magnalfow and flowmaster both are good.

But now I have a question, has anyone run a Dual 2.5" IN - SINGLE 3" OUT??

My dad gave me his '90 2500 with the same size motor 5.7L 350, when I graduated HS, but when I did the muffler in that it was a single 3" IN and dual 2.5" OUT, which I changed to 3" IN - 3" OUT (facotry look, no tip) ... This one is opposite that.

Any comments??

The only muffler I have seen with a dual 2.5 in/single 3 out is a FM 50 series. Otherwise you wold need a y-pipe and a single in/out muffler

I saw that on FM's website..... the 50 isn't loud right? Higher the # the less noise right? I'm looking for a decent sound without killing my ears!

I know the 50s are pretty quiet. but my cuz had a 40 series on his and swapped it out for a dynomax bc the FM was too loud for him. I think its all a matter of opinion of what you consider too loud to be, bc I think a 40 just fine.
