As far as i know my fuel pump is bad. The truck will no longer run, i checked pressure and if i recall it had about 50psi. Which i hear is not enough to make the truck run. The truck will run if i pour gas in the intake so it must need a new pump.

Its a 97 yukon 4wd, 4 door. I alraedy dropped the tank and removed the pump. I grabbed the fuel line to look at it and broke it right off the pump so now i CANT replace just the motor/pump in the assembly and ill need to buy the whole assembly.

I am just wonder which pump do i want to look for to buy? I looked on autozone and they have a whole assembly for around 200, its an "airtex" i believe. And i found taht pump for under 100 at other places online so if thats not a POS ill prolly buy one of those. I just dont want it to burn up right away. Any input?? Thanks

I bought one on Ebay for about $60 and it has been working like a champ for over 18 months. My old fuel pump was still working but I bought the new one because my gas gauge had quit and the new pump fixed the gauge problem.

What kind of pump is the factory one?? I heard theyre not that good, or that they dont last very long. I heard that alot of the pumps dont last very long in these trucks also.

It is a Delphi and mine lasted 244k miles. it has been left sitting for several years at one point and has been run dry several times by accident. As I said before they have been improved over time just like the injection spider. Delphi or acdelco which is renamed oem parts is the best oem some you can get.

Go with a Delphi or ACDelco, like said they have been improved.
Dont skimp, buy it once and forget about it.

My factory pump lasted 130k miles, and was always buzzing. It would still "work" but had developed a flat spot on the motor, and every so often I would have to hit the tank with a 2x4 to bounce the motor to get it going. I replaced it with the ACDelco unit, and it has been great. It came with the upgraded plug, which I soldered and put heat-shrink tubing around it. My only real complaint is that when it gets hot (running all day, hot day) it buzzes quite loudly. Otherwise it can't be heard. That pump now has 60k on it.

Is there a way i can double check to be CERTAIN that that pump linked to above is going to work for me? Ill be ready to order it soon so i just want to make sure i get the right one.

Also i have no idea how many pumps have been in this thing or if any, im guessing its been replaced tho. It still has the square plug on it. The truck has 211k on it and i havent had it very long.

Ive always had problems with this truck since ive gotten it, and all of a sudden the fuel pump went out, so i am HOPING that the whole time the truck didnt run good was cuz of the fuel pump..

Can a weak pump make it run bad sometimes, or would the truck jus not run at all if its weak?

Yep, this thing, it's good insurance. And I know it's too late now, but it's good to have an empty tank because that thing is HEAVY.

Well lucky for me, when the pump went out there was not very much gas in it at all. So it wasnt TOO heavy atleast. I couldnt imagine this huge tank even half full and trying to move it around or drop it down.

Turns out I need my fuel pump replaced. Can anyone confirm the AC delco part number for a 98 2 door fuel pump? I'm looking at this one, but I'm not sure if it only fits a 4 door. http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-MU177...ie=UTF8&qid=1352821301&sr=8-1&keywords=MU1777

I see this one works for 2 doors, but it's a Delphi unit and I'm just curious if ACDelco even makes one for 2 doors? Part FG0088: http://www.amazon.com/Delphi-FG0088-Fuel-Pump-Module/dp/B000CGM1FY

Edit: Answered my own questions, after calling around ACDelco does make one, part MU1746: http://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-MU1746-Fuel-Tank-Module/dp/B001S2TQ04
