So I get this vette servo and install it today. All the post were talking about firmer shifts and better 1-2 and 2-3. Some guys were even saying"dude, I can like......make the 20's chirp from first to second".

Im like hey for $20 bucks why not. Right? ********! Hour wasted and $20 bucks down the drain.

All this damn thing does is wind the first gear out to about 5500rpm then goes smooth into second.....and from 2cnd to 3rd. Yeah right, feels like the tranny is slipping between 3000 and 5000rpm and then the magic happens into 3rd gear.

My truck has 89000 miles on it and bought it strictly for towing my minitruck. Tranny is'nt worn in anyway, plates are good and it has shifted great up until this servo...

IMO, I call BS on people having 2cnd gear chirps with NO tune and just adding a servo. Produce the video... I dare ya.

Lets just say I'll be taking the "BIG VETTE" servo back out and putting stock one back in.

lol, servo does shit, its a BAND-AID. The same thing can be accomplish with a good tune and adjusting the shift patterns. As a matter, they make some billet servos, that are said to be mucho better than the vette servo, but they aint 20$ either.

4l60e is a shit of a trans, my 80e throws me back whenever I want, and never feels spongy, not knowing the shifts.

Sounds like you need a good custom tune, and those sloppy 60e shifts be somewhat better, when they adjust the line pressures.

You got it HOE! Thanks for chiming in. Yeah I just took it out again, hitting some corners hit a couple straight aways and got it up to 110,winded out the gears and every thing. It shifts real smooth from first to second like I said earlier and 2cnd to third sucks, slips a hairbit and struggles between 3000 and 5k rpm's. **** that servo to say the least. Im getting a tune. Simple as that. Might go with BlackBear or I will give that new vendor a shot. Definitly a tune though!!

Peace out HOE:Handshake:

you know the vette servo only helps the 1-2 shift. doesn't do a damn thing for your 2-3 and 3-4.

is 20$ and an hour of your time that big of a waste? its not like it does absolutely nothing.

and like it was previously said, if you get a custom tune, you don't really even need it.

if you want to spend some money on trans parts, look into an HD2 shift kit.

$20??? Makes me suspicious. The whole deal is normally ~$100 for just the parts. I can't call BS on your post because there isn't enough info to make a sound decision.

Just got the servo from Oregon perfermance. $18.99 plus shipping. Did'nt do longer pin(not needed) or 4th gear servo and stayed away from billet.

Its simple, i was just tooling around on here the other day and vette servo was on my list of cheap mods to do.......did it and did'nt like it. That is all. If I was planning on spending over a hundy. I would just do BB tune now. Just one of those deals where you "buy and try".

Yeah, I know. 1st to second didnt change one bit. My transmission has always been a smooth shifter since I've owned it. I figured for $20 for a little bit of an agressive shift, why not. DID nada for me.

Heck man, get the tune and have them tweek the trans and drive it around like that for a bit, then try the servo again at that time and see if that helps at that time!! If you are truly not happy with the servo, at least it was only a $20 mod!! I've had many times that I wish I could have said that about other mods that I have done and not been happy about!! :)

1) You get a tune from BB, they suggest installing the vette servo.

2) If it let you burn for 1/16 of a mile, for $20, everyone would have one

3) If you're this whiney about a $20 (plus shipping) mod, stay away from underdrive pulleys and LSDs (stick to straight line accelleration).

"OH THIS BS TRUTRAC DIDNT CHANGE ANYTHING! I'VE BEEN SPINNING DOUGHNUTS AND PEELING OUT, AND I DONT FEEL SHIT! $450 WASTED"....

The vette servo is polishing the pos that is the 4L60, but who gives a shit if you're going to tune. Haha, dont buy e-fans either, they're, brace yourself....like $80....

exactly,

To the OP my hoe is not stock, but not only will it chirp 1st, 2nd and 3rd, it will completely roast through them.... I am on my 2nd stock 4l80e tranny, and I have a fresh 80e to replace it. I use 0tq management. 4.88 gears, 32" tires, 4k stall, 6.0 ** VMax, 160* tstat, airaid, lpp longtubes, 3"ory into 4" dumped magnaflow, performance street tune by Pcm4less Alvin. Im sure Im forgetting lots, but its not a $20 experience." You winded it up to 110mph", and I have winded my hoe into the 150mph range. This xmas it gets L92 heads, fast intake, and 230s cam. $$$

IMO, just showed that new challenger a lesson at a light few weeks ago. dude almost *******, as he kept banging his rev limiter. And my 80e is slipping as we speak, cause I welded the clutches after doing a 8 block burnout.

I agree with most every one on this, you have to tune for the servo, just to take the full advantage of having the Vette servo. I would keep it, and just get the blackbear tune. You go from there... every mod you do, grants a RETUNE! remember that and you will be alright.

I got the blackbear tune before the servo. After installing the servo I noticed a HUGE difference in the 1-2 shift. Don't quite chirp the tires in a straight with only bolt ons but doesn't seem like it needs much more power to do so.

I have yet to install mine. Seriously though, its $20. Who cares. So i wasted $20 to try something out, no big deal. I spend more than that a day on food. Sorry if my servo thread irritated you that bad. All i did was inquire about it and figured i would try it. I have a bb tune and love it, but why not try something else ya know.

I didn't buy my Yukon to be able to do burnouts, for fucksake its a heavy ass soccer wagon. Sure get a tune to help to get rid of the limits, make shifts smoother, blah, blah, blah, but if you want something fast start with something else!

if you want fast, buy an evo or STi and boost the shit out of it..my boy's STi is putting down 640whp with minor bolt ons, boosting 30psi on pump 93 gas

if you want comfy, room for shit, offroading/snow capability, get a truck!

LOL! That made me chuckle. I'm not one of those guys. Just wanted better shifting to tide me over until tune.
