Well at least if someone ever steals my Tahoe I can pay them a visit they will never forget!

I can see OnStar getting sued when someone who thinks they are fooling around with an unmarried person gets murdered by the other person's unknown-to-them spouse. It WILL happen.

Yeah it probably will happen one day. Problem is most people don't bother with overpriced Onstar past the 3 month trial period.

GM is greedy. If it was up to $15 a month for the whole service (inc. call minutes, tracking, and all other features) I would keep it. Anything more than that, I'll pass.

Maybe if you had teenage kids and you want to know where they are going, and who they are with, then it would be a good service. I also wouldn't mind having it for my wife because she drives about 30 minutes to work down some back roads that can get pretty drifted over in winter, with very deep ditches on either side that can easily hide a car. I'd like to be able to see when she left work and make sure her location keeps moving and not stuck somewhere. (even though she has a 4wd envoy, its the other idiots on the road that cause accidents). As far as catching an unfaithful spouse, I have a suggestion. Don't be unfaithful!

I agree.

XM radio offered $5/month after I told them to cancel after the trial period, and I took them up on that offer.

Neither is worth more than that to me.

On second thought, that "Stalker Feature" could come in handy when the person driving a Chevy Volt runs out of battery power, there is no gas in the vehicle, and the driver doesn't know where the hell he or she is. Just pick up the cell phone and call the Chief Stalker-in-Charge for a report on where the vehicle is broken down again.

Funny you mentioned the Volt. I was just talking to my wife about buying one. I told her it could be my daily commuter car for getting to and from work. My work is only 4.4 miles from my house. I usually take my kid to daycare on the way to and from work, but that's no problem since daycare is across the street. I told her it would be great because I'd never have to fill up since it's suppose to be 30-40 miles of gas free driving. All I'd have to do is plug it every time I got home. Everything in my home is electric. Why not make my car the same thing too? I'm even trying to convince her to put solar panels on the roof and a small wind turbine on the property so that we'd have our own power and not worry every time a storm knocks out the power here (It usually takes a big storm to do that. Last time I lost power was Hurricane Irene several months back.).

I mean, you can already do this with smartphones, but I can see it being a selling point for the controlling husbands (and wives) of America. I would have that shit disabled if that were me. I don't have OnStar hooked up anyway, I don't need it, I have a phone. Hubbs does and he only pays $19, I believe, after calling and threatening to cancel service. His XM is super cheap too. The only reason he keeps his is for the OnStar app, which he uses a lot.
