Hey Folks - just got back from a Southern CA camping trip towing our 6,000lb cargo trailer -> camper. The 2021 Yukon is 'regular' / does not have the tow package.

We got caught in a 38minute delay stop/go backup on I-5 north on the way home - maybe the 'grapevine' but somewhere in that area. About 15mins in - we hit a long 6%? grade pulling up the grade doing stop/go for next 20mins. 5mph max, stop, 5mph, stop etc.

At stop/go up the grade the trans temp started climbing, and climbing, and climbing.... from ~160F to 226F by the time we got free / back up to speed. Outdoor temp was 55F - pretty cool. At 60mph the temp rapidly dropped <200F and then back to 158F as we got back to 'level' road.

From reading posts on this forum I was prepared to go to 235F before pulling over to the shoulder / letting things cool but fortunately we topped out at 226F as we were able to get back up to 60mph.

But, it makes me wonder, is this a design flaw? Seems like a rig should be able to handle stop/go interstate backup on a long upgrade and not go into really hi trans temps on such a cool day.

Not posting to complain - just interested in how to think about this / at what point would you have pulled over to let things cool.

In paragraph four you stated you were prepared to go to 135F before pulling over. Did you mean 235F?
