Got the Ultra-Gauge

Well, I bought the Ultra-Gauge a few weeks ago and it came in the mail. Nice small little unit that is like the ScanGauge but has a WAY better screen and shows 6 gauges per page, 3 pages.

The cool part is that besides showing and clearing codes, avg mpg, instant mpg and all the other stuff like O2 trims, IAT etc, it also shows gallons left in your tank.
Spent a few hours yesterday just driving around and calibrating the speed to GPS and playing with settings. The last few times I manually checked my mixed mpg it was 13.5-14 but I just realized that my speedo is off by 8% under-reporting !!!

Doing a test of avg mpg for the next few days vs actual gas used / mileage to see how accurate it is. I have heard once calibrated it is extremely accurate.

The suction cup is cool, it has a ratchet to hold the cup in the suck position.
The shaft is rubber on the outside but you can bend it any way you want like it is metal on the inside. The housing has quick release tabs on top and bottom. If you want you can use enclosed velcro and attach to wherever.
Also the neck has a ball swivel.

this is awesome, esp for $70!! they are even working on a trans temp gauge.

i bet programming 0-60 and 1/4 would be easy for them as an update

Friday afternoon I should have about 110-120 miles on it and I will check actual mileage vs U-G mileage and gallons left in tank actual vs U-G.

OK, so I drove 265 miles , 75% city and 25% freeway, always way over 100 degrees and AC on full blast. I just drove normal, not trying to get the best mileage (real world). I filled up at the same station, but the pump I used last time was out of order.

Ultra-Gauge reported 265 miles driven, AVG fuel mileage 14.8, Fuel left in tank 12.6 gallons.

Actual values, It took 18.1 gallons ( 11.9 left in tank, accurate enough considering not the same pump) , calculated 14.64 MPG.

I had 12 gallons left and the stupid gas gauge needle was saying 1/8th tank (ever since FP replacement.....twice)

Oh yeah, this morning on the way to work 10% city 90% freeway 18.1 mpg doing 75 mph.

I've been watching their forums and they just released the metric version (good for you Canadians!!) and they are beta testing an updated gauge that also includes trans temp and a few others.

This thing is so damn tempting....

the scangauge2 from the same company all ready does the that but has no graph. check the site and manual to learn how to read the tranny temp.

I was actually checking that one out earlier - it's tough to justify spending the extra $100 though....I also read somewhere it's the same owner of both products.
