Well mines a 97 and as far as I knew pacesetter was the only one worth talking about. We installed a set of LT on my dads 98 ram and it was a snap, the fit was perfect. I really want to order a set for my tahoe

Yeah, mentioning what engine you have would be helpful. TBI headers will not fit on Vortecs and vice versa. And as far as I know LTs are not legal in California.

I do not think I have seen someone sell headers and y pipe as a kit for the Vortecs. Most people just skip the y pipe and go straight into the cats, or have a custom y pipe fabricated for their application.

Check out summitracing, I know they carry PaceSetters.

From what I hear nothing is ***** legal in CALI alot of people find a friendly shop or save thier stock exaust for the smog tests. No one welds there exhaust up there.

I think it is the Bassani Midlengths that are legal in CA. I have the AEM LTs but my whole system is swappable for when I have to deal with emissions....:mexsmoke:

Well I'm in wisconsin so no emissions for me :)

But if you go for LTs you have to get a custom y pipe or true duals done. You could hook them back into the stock cats, but that would just be dumb and a waste of effort. Pacesetter headers are really nice for the price, its just too bad that they don't make a y pipe for our trucks. My dads 98 ram is a 4wd and pacesetter makes a y pipe for that and it fit perfect.

But I like building exhaust so I guess that I can build one for my tahoe :D

Yeah the Bassanis are legal on "racing set-ups" and not street vehicles in Cali. And they are for Vortecs and I am running TBI. I will more than likely just go with the Edelbrock TES headers and y pipe. The primaries on the headers are 1 5/8" compared to the 1 1/2" primaries most other smog shorties run.

Anyway, if you do not have to worry about emissions go LTs and forget about the cat. Go true duals or get a customs y pipe fabbed up.

I E-mailed LLP

I was asking them if there ORY will fit our OBS hoes and Pacesetter Lt's.

B.c in the pic it looks like it can. Since we have dual exhuast from the factory.

I GOT THERE RESPONSE (BETTER THEN I WAS EXSPECTING)

Yes the Y will fit pacesetters.
Our headers will fit your truck they just don't have the EGR connection.

Thanks, Carl

Subject: Y-Pipe

I own a 99 Tahoe Old Body Style with 5.7L Vortec V8 Engine. Will the Y-Pipe you have listed bolt on Pacesetter Long Tube Headers? I see you off LT's for every year but ours. On your Y-Pipe you don;t have any specs as well fitment.

What headers is he saying will fit the OBS tahoes? I think there may be some confusion because the headers from a NBS tahoe will not come even close to fitting.

But do you have a part number for the headers or even the Y pipe to connect it to the pacesetters? I'll deffinately buy a set of LPP headers and y pipe for my tahoe, but I need to know they will fit our trucks

^^Eh, I don't know why, but I have never liked gibsons products for some reason. Probably mostly because I don't care for the sound and they are kinda on the high priced side. I'm not knocking their products at all, I have never owned any of them.

But IMO if you are worried about emissions leave the stock manifolds and y-pipe and install a catback and call it a day. But if your not worried about emissions then get some long tubes since they will give you a noticeable difference in sound and performance.

Just my .02 :)

Hey, call me crazy..... but does the 5.7L Vortec even have a Y-pipe? I thought the exhaust manifolds on those went to two seperate pipes with two seperate cats, then into a dial-in/single-out muffler, or am I mistaken?

By the way, I like Edelbrock headers, and they are 50-state legal. I got a sweet set of Edelbrock TES Headers for my '95 Tahoe. Granted the exhaust setup is different so the headers I have are different, but Edelbrock makes a sweet manifold is all I'm saying.

Your 100% Correct about Y-Pipe. Its a funny shaped Y lol. You need one b/c LT's ARE NOT BOLT ON.

Bump for edelbrack...MADE IN USA. :party33:

I'll email him, but I'm sure he thought you had a 99 NBS tahoe with a 5.3 or whatever.

But we are both kind of right on the y pipe LOL Technically it would be duals until the muffler, but I figured that everyone would know what I was saying by calling it a y pipe. I want a real y pipe though, not some weird design with 1.75" pipes LOL

Yeah, Edelbrock, seriously. And yeah, forever poses another decent point SUPPORT AMERICAN DESIGN AND MANUFACTING! If there is one thing this country needs right now it's more domestic business support.

BOOO!

What bout ORY...looks kinda close.

I doubt it, he just said that he made a mistake and that the headers fit the 5.3 motors. But you could buy it and have a start at a y pipe, but you would have to chop off the back and I have heard of guys having troubles fitting it up on 4wd trucks.

I'm just going to build my own, its going to be a royal PITA, but I think it will be worth it in the long run
