Well...So far I'm pretty happy with it. The install is quick and painless. I set it up for the "extreme program" (as they call it), and customized it for my tire size. The truck now responds like I think it should have all along and my speedo is finally accurate. No more going 70 with the speedo showing 65.
Throttle response is much better...no more hesitation. It now shifts the way I want it to.
Downshifts on passing/speeding up used to be this: Lay on the long pedal...wait while it hesitates..then get the lurch as it finally drops down a gear. Now it is smooth and "natural" (if that makes sense). I have driven a stick most of my life, so I always felt like I wanted to shift the Tahoe before it does. Now I am comfortable with it.
The dash pod it came with was for the wrong style GM dash, but a card inside the box explains that if you call Edge, they will ship you the proper pod for free. I think they just throw random pods in the box. Would have preferred they looked at the vehicle details I sent and based the pod off of that, but at least they will ship the correct one for free. I don't plan on mounting it with the pod anyway since it's the same spot I mount my cell phone on roadtrips for GPS & hands free.
Here are a couple of pics of where I temp mounted it. I don't think I will keep it mounted. Most of what it displays you can get from the DIC & guages. But for now, the gadget geek in me is..."mmm...pretty lights & buttons".
I'm sure once that wears off, it will end up unplugged and thrown in the console until I want to re-program.
Another thing I noticed is my average MPG on the DIC is showing 14.5 MPG as apposed to the usual 12.3 I get (comes out around 12 after a fill up when I figure it out myself). It is still too soon to tell since I'm only about 25 miles into this fresh tank of gas & programming, but looks promising so far.
Off topic note: That flat mount thing stuck on the dash to the left of the radio is from the PO. One of these days I need to heat it up & get it off there. I find it funny that whatever he had mounted there was blocked by the shifter as soon as you put it in drive.
