My builder sent these earlier. Footer is dug, bulkheads are in and on grade. Rebar goes in next. Inspection scheduled for 10am tomorrow.

That's a massive footer, lol. I shouldn't have any issues in that department.

Every bulkhead is a step. I wasn't expecting that many, but it is what it is.

I'll go out tomorrow evening and maybe fly the drone.

I'm only going into work for half a day tomorrow so we can go look at brick. Need to get that picked out asap. If all goes well, masons will be on-site end of next week.

We looked at some samples of brick for the foundation today. Found a few options we liked so they gave us some home addresses to check out. While we were driving to see them, we saw this house and we both said liked it. After showing our builder the options from the brick place, then that house, he said the house was it. Maybe even do that stone on two extended gable portions at the front of the house. Not 100% sold, but maybe

Brick on the foundation, stone on these areas

Then entire foundation will be brick, all 4 sides

After looking at the brick stuff, we drove out to see the footer progress. We had an inspection scheduled for 10am and was curious why I hadn't heard anything. When we got there, my builder said the inspector hadn't been there yet. After walking around a bit and flying the drone, we realized it was almost 4. I called the inspector I had spoken with about my foundation engineering, no answer so I texted him.

4:15, no reply so we called it a day and headed home. Plan was to cancel the concrete and work around the inspector. Not great.

4:25 the dude text me and said he wasn't doing the inspections on that end of the county today, but would see what he could find out. Little back and forth, he asked when we had scheduled concrete. I told him 5am Monday morning.

This dude said oh, I'll head that way right now. I was blown away....

Impressed to say the least. I'm super happy with the work my guys did. My builder was super happy with the work. Even said "I've never seen a footer like this on a residential home, nor the quality. Those guys killed it"

So, I had an inspector go out of his way, on a Friday afternoon, an hour after the office was closed. He was impressed enough to tell me all of that.

I think we're starting off on the best possible note.

A few drone shots...

Porch piers aren't dug yet. They need room for the concrete truck to pour the center, while the pump truck is pouring the other areas. Once the center has concrete, they'll quickly dig the porch piers and pour them the same day

which side is the front door in those drone photos? I kinda think it's facing the driveway, but then again that looks like the garage area. Love your feet.

The gravel goes to the garage. Front door is facing north. The big area at the back of the house doesn't have the footers for the deck piers dug yet

Little refresher of the plans. They're upside down, but you get the idea

So when you drive up to the house you’re facing the side? And the front faces the trees? Interesting layout.
