08 Yukon XL key not turning

My key is getting stubborn in the ignition switch. It takes more and more fiddling to get it to turn. I’m assuming the tumblers are worn, but I saw something about programming the keys. I tried searching but didn’t find any threads with this specific problem. I’m guessing I just need a new ignition switch assembly, but wanted to see if anyone had any other input?

Back the key out a hair, and it may turn . this is true of my 2008 . I am thinking my previous owner had a heavy key ring.
Works like this with my original key or those I bought and programmed

You may try lubing it. I think it is a graphite lube.

Tahoe14 is correct. Key lube is a graphite lube, I would definitely try some of that.

Yup, that’s what I do to get it to turn, but it’s becoming more finicky.

Get it changed/replaced before you get stranded somewhere.
