I'll be honest, I had no idea that GM had started removing features in the '03-'06 models. The gauge clusters are what really pushed me to find the '05 opposed to just getting another '02. Because it if weren't for the clusters and knowing what I know now, I def would have stayed an '02

You are correct in the door lights and the glove box lights. Somewhere in 2003 the deleted the rear door courtesy lights and replaced it with a cheap red reflector lens. Super dumb in my opinion. I want to run some wire back there and put some courtesy lights in. It’s weird how they option them. I have a client of the detail business that has a 2004 Z71 Tahoe. She has leather interior but her front seats are not 12 way power adjustable seat, nor do they have memory or heat functions. And i don’t believe she has power adjustable pedals either. I can’t remember if she has DL3 mirrors or not as it’s been a bit since the last time I detailed it. Weird considering a lot of other GMT800 Z71 trimmed rigs I’ve detailed have those features.

If you have DL3 mirrors and they’re not functioning I’d say you have a wiring issue or a power source issue. My DL3 mirrors have turn signal LEDs in the glass, power adjust, power fold, heat, and drivers side auto dim. I can even power fold the mirror in and out while the truck is fully powered off and key out of the ignition.

I think i have an earlier 03. My rear doors have the lights in them.
Do you have puddle lights in your mirrors?

My 03 Z71 has the rear door lights & power folding mirrors with puddle lights (replaced by tow mirrors presently).

How do you power fold them with the truck off? That's pretty sweet

I think the rear door courtesy lights left the chat with the 2004 models.
I already put my LED courtesy lights in the back doors. I'm just gonna run a set of wires around to the front door lights. I haven't got that far yet tho.

Ok, one more thing to add to the list: my '02 has a passenger side key hole by the door handle. The '05 does not, driver only. Let me guess: it's to stop thieves? Lmao

considering they easily punch them and break the clip inside one less way for them to try and be discrete.

Same way they fold when the truck has power. Put the left/right selector switch to its center position, and then hold the right side of the square shaped mirror adjustment button down for about 2ish seconds, the glass adjusts down to its lowest position, and the mirror folds in. Hold the left side of the square for about 2ish seconds and they fold back out, and the glass goes back to wherever it was set before the fold.

I actually didn’t realize that they’d power fold even with the truck off and key out of the ignition until a couple months ago. Figured it out by mistake. Lol.

I didn't even know my 06 suburban had power folding doors until I was driving on the highway and must have held that one button too long and they folded in. Lol

You'd think they would have disabled that over a certain speed? I guess I can see folding them in if you are trying to fit into a tight parking space? I couldn't remember if they folding in with the key out? I never fold mine in.

@Electrickian did you already buy your harness? You have to get a 03+ because the 99-02 are completely different. It can be from a pickup as long as it came with a 4L60e. 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0 doesn't matter.

Yeah it is. It's almost completely done. I have to get set up with my heat gun and try and get the 2 connectors out of the Park/Neutral Safety Switch (I just cut them off my '02 harness when I took it out) and a few more connections still and I'll be done with that thing

Also I noticed the subwoofer location changed from the back 3rd row seat area to the front bottom of the center console. Now that is one change I'll agree is for the better. All the rest of the changes tho suck sack. Boo GM

Yeah as far as I’m aware there’s no speed restriction to the power folding mirror option. When I first got the truck 11 years ago I didn’t know it had power folding mirrors and the selector was in the middle. Again I don’t know how I did it, maybe my arm was resting on the switch by mistake and hit the right button and they folded in driving down the main boulevard going across town where I live doing like 45 and the mirrors folded in. I was like “what the heck I didn’t know they could do that!” And then had to pull over and pull my owners manual out to figure out how to fold them back out lol. I will say it’s a handy feature in drive for tight parking spots like you said. And a couple times I’ve had to pull through a narrow residential street like with a car stopped on either side, or one time a trash truck stopped picking up trash and a car parked on the other side of the street from the truck and it was tight getting through so I folded the mirrors in and gained a little extra clearance to not have to worry about anything scraping on either side and could pull through and then fold them back out in the other side while the truck is still in gear and moving.

I deleted my center console (I frigging hate center consoles, also deleted that on my 99 Silverado) and have been meaning to find myself a 00-02 rear subwoofer factory emclosure and install that on my 06.

I installed an aftermarket Sony head unit so will have to install an aftermarket sub amplifier for the subwoofer....

I will say though, the integration of the 03+ stereo is better than the 00-02 (99-02 on the pickups). Aftermarket stereos with the proper module will be easier to wire for backup camera than the prior years.

I already have a 10" floating touch screen head unit and a back-up camera. What I will probably do is get my own amp later to use and maybe swap out the sub itself too. And I may swap my rear sub interior trim into my '05 to have 2 subs - front & rear
